I couldn't stand to do something like that. Imagine what it would be like having little contact with the outside world for 3 months. A lot can change in 3 months.

They say it is a year or two trip so yes, first they are checking how long people will last without meaningful human contact.

Mars at the closest approch to earth is a 3 month trip which is great. downside it only happens every 2 years getting there your be stuck there for 2 years which might drive you a little crazy. now if we could launch from the moon we could get it down to a month and a half.
