Martial Law.

Iv been seeing alot about how America is going to put martial law into effect because of rising threat to homeland.


im not too worried myself, being that in a few weeks ill be in the ARMY. but for those who are not. I'm a bit concerned.

what do you think?

This does not need to get heated, it is purely a discussion, not a debate.

also people not of American citizenship id like to know how you feel or your thoughts on it.

Where did you hear this? I highly doubt that Obama would do this, plus, most of our army and national guard are spread across the world, you can't really put the entire United States under martial law. I think there is something in there with federalism, not sure if the pres can do it, might be up to individual state governors. But again, where are you getting this from? And what threat? All I know is that people are excited that Obama's getting sworn in in 6 days...

Governments declaring martial law is usually the precursor to revolution. It only works as long as the army is willing to carry out the government's orders. I can't see the US armed forces turning their guns on American civilians.

No, not in a million years. I don't know what your sources are, but unless my head has been stuck up my own ass for the last few weeks (checking: nope, no shit stains on my forehead), there has been no talk about this silly notion you call "Martial Law."

But please, elaborate if you can, cause no offense, but right now I beilieve your sources to be a bunch of drunken lemurs.

But there is no massive civil unrest across the nation, maybe if the zompocalypse came, but usually you declare martial law in a specific city, like for desegregating schools and what not. Plus, I can't see the army turning their guns on the American people, we're their family members! And assuming in some ridiculous parallel universe the army did try to go crazy, we have the 2nd amendment specifically to guard against it. (Not that a civilian militia could stand up to the US Army, but an entire populous with guns? Not going to go smoothly) But that won't happen because we purposely encourage rivalries among the branches to keep them from working perfectly together, and the president is a civilian for a reason....

not at all i had no intention to scare. I was up watching all of these videos, and i got paranoid, i was just looking for feedback, you dont have to be all aggressive about it. i was clearly asking what people thought.

There's no reason for anyone to declare martial law, so far as I know. The only slightly rational thing I can think of is that Bush wants to extend his presidency, and that's the paranoid, worst case scenerio part of my mind talking. If you think Presient Bush is a nutjob, then yes, there's a tiny bit of concern. If not...try thinking about ponies. That always helps me.
