Both. I get all of the Avengers books along with Spider-man and Wolverine every month(New Dark Avengers coming this month, woo!), but I also get Batman, Detective, Action, Adventure, Superman, Supergirl, Batgirl(Barbara Gordon returns to form too, yes!) and the Green Lantern books(never was a Justice League guy. Why do those guys even need to team up, they're demigods). I love both companies and their different approaches to one of the things I love. Please don't make me choose.

I think that superheroes in general are doing a lot to keep comic books stagnant. Especially the cape, mask, and spandex kind.

But if I have to choose between the two, I'd say Marvel. A lot more diversity there.

Can I just take this chance to further a vote for indie comics and anything of the non-superhero variety, though? Tank Girl and Emily the Strange for the win.

Eh. Don't really do comics.
The last Marvel anything I read was Civil War, and I found it to be...ludicrously stupid and strangely awesome at the same time.

It's awesome that we get to watch heroes match wits and powers against each other...but some of the flagrant contradictions of character, plus that whole "political/social commentary" schtick (Guantanamo Bay parody, anyone?) just pissed me off. Tony Stark has a messiah complex? Glad to see the man who was once so humbled and living on the street looking down his nose on others.
Spiderman and the Punisher are working together? Aren't they on opposite ends of the ethical/moral spectrum?
Ugh...nevermind.

On the other hand, I've read even less from DC. I mistakenly picked up some issue of a series called Countdown, and found it to be...fairly contrived. All I recall was that there was what can only be described as the "Furry Virus", and a bunch of stuff I didn't understand because I didn't read the previous issues.

Whatever. It cost a buck at a novelty store and I was on vacation with nothing to read.

i like the dc stories but the marvel characters are so much better. DC is too full of people that have the powers of gods (excluding batman which is probably my favorite dc hero). while people like spiderman and captain america are much much more relatable and mainly thats why i like marvel more

I'm old. So I started reading comics in the late 1970s. Also, I am not the biggest fan of Superhero books.

So. What does this mean? DC all the way. All they way.

Why? Back in the day DC had the horror books: The Witching Hour, House of Mystery, House of Secrets. (I also read the Charleton books and Warren books)
DC also had the sword and sorcery books: Warlord, Arion Lord of Atlantis, Amethist Princess of Gemworld, Camelot 3000
DC had The Shadow...cuz I love some pulp. And they also picked up Ms. Tree for a while, which I'll always love them for.
Then of course their Vertigo books--my faves being Shade the Changing Man and 100 Bullets.
Swamp Thing was great, too.

In the realm of heroes, the Original run of Teen Titans was awesome. I followed Wonder Woman and the Huntress. Then there was The Watchmen.

I mean...DC! How much greatness!

Generally, I didn't much care for the stuff happening over at Marvel. The two exceptions were I followed the original Ghost Rider and loved the Alan Moore run of Captain Marvel from the Marvel UK series--very dark. But generally, I wasn't all that interested in the Marvel heroes and they didn't have a lot of alternatives to the hero book. And I didn't care about X-Men.

I bought comics based more on which heroes I liked rather than the company.

Of course, now that DC has deleted Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown, turned Harley Quinn into 'the Joker if he was a prostitute', Starfire into even more blatant fan-service than she was before (didn't even think that possible)......

Yeah, they're kinda dead to me at the moment. Bring back my favorite illiterate martial arts savant and her bestest ever pal, and give Harley her hat tassles and personality back; then we'll talk.

Marvel has some good films and some good games, but for every one good movie/game they have, there is like 3 crappy ones. (Fantastic Four, I'm looking straight at you) I'm not really into the comics, so I can't say much more on that. Batman has great games, movies and is just overall an awesome character. So, In general, Marvel wins, but Batman is the greatest superhero. DC would win because of Batman, if it weren't for the fact that Superman, Wonder Woman, and all of those guys are terrible.

I used to be pretty equal with them, but I now read more and more DC. The new 52 is pretty damn good, while the atrocity of Fear Itself annoyed the hell out of me. I still enjoy some Marvel books, especially Spidey. I also like the new direction of the X-books.

Though fuck DC for not including Wally West (favourite super hero) in the new 52. Fuck 'em.

Lets see...

Animation: DC ,don't act like anything Marvel made comes close to ant cartoon made by Bruce Timm.

Film: Tied for me.

Games: Arkham Asylum has the record for the highest rated superhero game of all time.

Comics: I don't get to read them often ,but of the ones I read i liked DC the best.

Winner:DC

DC has got a lot of my love thanks to the amazing animation work they put out, Marvel has better films though for the most part. Going by comics on the other hand, as a kid I read the crap out of X-Men (And a little Spider-Man), but now I'm getting back into comics I follow three series (Young Justice, Batman, and Action Comics, although I might be dropping the last one since I missed my chance to buy issue two at my grocer) and the few "Graphic Novels" I have are mostly DC. I'd say DC edges them out, but I really love the X-Men, and if I can get my mom to spring me some cash, I might get the new #1's of Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men if this one store carries them.

DC because they know to slow down after every company wide cross over event. Since Infinite Crisis, DC had one major crossover event about every year to 18 months.

Marvel had twelve major crossover events in the past year and are not stopping anytime soon.
Interestingly it is the Cross Over events that makes me like Marvel so much.

Besides, the Avengers Disassembled to Siege events were mostly one event a year for the major Characters. Then there are the Cosmic Marvel events, which I would call a mostly antonymous "universe".

After Siege I haven't read a whole lot, but it seems to me they are focusing more on smaller none major events though.

But yeah I go with Marvel just because they have Rocket Raccoon, Cosmo the Space Dog and Molly Hayes (Best Super Heroes EVER!)
