So, one thing that disappointed me with Iron Man 3 was the lack of any kick-ass rock/metal tunes (like "Iron Man", "Institutionalized" and "Back In Black" in IM1, and "Should I Stay, or Should I go?", "The Magnificent Seven", "Shoot to Thrill", "Highway to Hell", "Another one Bites the Dust" and "Robot Rock" in IM2)

Avengers had a pretty cool soundtrack/MIBTM, but most of it wasn't actually in the movie(?)

And now, Iron Man 3 doesn't have anything, not even a single AC/DC song? I get the change of tone, but if you look at much of the other music and scenes in the actual movie, that isn't much of an excuse, imo.

Also, Thor. That guy is every inch a stereotypical metalhead (big, rugged, stubborn, slightly slow at times, not to mention a Norse God..), why isn't there some metal in that film? I mean, how obvious isn't it to put some Manowar in there (the build up of "Battle Hymn" during the build up of a battle scene or "The Sons of Odin" as the credits roll)? Or at the very least something more mainstream-friendly, like Disturbed or Five Finger Death Punch? Perhaps they go a little bolder on The Dark World (Thor 2), but I don't have my hopes up..

So yeah, I think I've gotten my stance on the matter across, how do you guys feel about it?

that was one of my main little issues with IM3 was the lack of rock tunes it seemed to just lessen Tony Stark as character

Agreed, the (slightly, but not too much, cheesy) scenes with AC/DC and bad-assery were his best moments in the previous films, imo!

For Thor, there is no excuse for NOT having Amon Amarth in there

It's built just for Norse mythology, YOU FOOLS

Are you honestly telling me you couldn't include this:

In ANY of the battle scenes and whatnot? Ridiculous

Amon would have been awesome, but the day we see something with black metal vocals in a big summer blockbuster is probably pretty far away xD

They probably know they're already ridiculous and don't want to push it.

The problem with using metal in films is that it tends to turn the scene into a big music video, rather than just providing atmosphere. It's generally too in-your-face. Especially if you want to use something with thrash/death vocals or whatever.

But-
there's no reason why film-makers couldn't throw a bone to metalheads once in a while. If not a straight-up song, perhaps an orchestral arrangement of a metal song?

Why not something like that? The bit at 2:00 practically sounds like a climactic movie scene already.

Or if you're doing a horror film, just get Meshuggah to do the whole soundtrack. Seriously. Watch the music video for I Am Colossus :| holy fuck

Well, for most cases, it would have to be instrumental sections/versions used :) Anything with extreme vocals would obviously not be put in the film, but there's not really problem in putting in some heavy riffing and drums, the way I see it :D

WHY hasn't Symphony of Destruction been used in any movies? Just look how awesome this Nightwish cover goes with the big fight sequence in King Kong:

Ehh, not a big Nightwish fan. They don't really do memorable riffs enough for me. DUNUN DUN! DUNUN DUN! et infinitum...

But I'd be all for a big metal soundtrack to an actual major film one of these days. But perhaps it would be better off being composed specifically for the film, otherwise you get the whole music video problem.

Like this:

Okay, so not from a film, but still. Excellent piece of music. More tribal mixed with classical metal than straight up metal, but whatever.

I was just about to say! What more do people want?

Gosh darn it you people are so picky sometimes :p

Although saying that the beginning of Iron Man 2 with Shoot To Thrill is pretty awesome.
