With an ad like this, all you need to succeed is capture the attention of the audience at the end to see what the advertisement is for and how to get it.

With that in mind, this ad does what it set out to do. It was kinda funny, too.

I thought the ending was funny, it was done before but I still thought it was cute

All I thought when I saw this ad was how much I hate that Foam Mjolnir they are selling. They could've at least had the legend written into the side of it ("Whosoever shall he be worthy...") instead of just making it a solid plain lump of gray foam.

#1 Loki never took the shape of a dog, a gray cat would be more relevant, but it's name would not be Loki
#2 a good team, decent execution, a bad premise, and uninspired background music, I disapprove

Yeah I was about to dismiss it as blatant plagiarism but then they blew up the car. That made me LOL, and think, "Twirl the hammer and fly outta there kid!"

Ok, yes, the ending was cool and unexpected, but I don't think this would work as well as the original Vader ad would've for non-geeks.

Why? I'm 99.9% sure more people have heard of Darth Vader than Thor, especially the Marvel comics version. And of those, more people are likely to know that Vader can move/affect objects by gesturing.

In this ad, you have a kid wandering around dressed up pointing an oversized toy hammer at things. And I imagine most people are just going to be going "huh? What's he trying to do?" unless they've already seen the Vader ad, in which case they'll at least have some idea of what's going on. If they haven't though, I imagine they'd be pretty lost.

I'll admit, I thought that was pretty funny, especially with that ending.

Neither of his parents are blond. At all. Not even a dirty blond. So either the kid's adopted or that's not his dad.
OR they're all unrelated actors.

I was against it for being to much like the Darth Vader one up until the ending where I laughed my ass off.

Do you think anyone watched this and thought, 'wow, now I really want to go see that Thor movie'? Ever?

i liked it but the vw ad was better imho because you couldn't see little vaders face
still, the dogs name and the license plate add a nice touch

Maybe a Fjord?
I love you and hate you so much right now. On one hand that was a damn good pun. On the other hand, I just laughed so hard really hot tomato soup just came out of my nose, and it stings insanely so.

The thing is that this ad only "works" if you've seen the original VW ad. If you haven't seen it, then this one plain sucks.
