Does the ranked have the same silly points system as SF4? Silly because taking points away for a loss is cheap.

Is this game balanced? Or is MODOK just crap, I hope not.
Does this answer your question??

Article: Shoryuken: EuroGamer MvC3 Interview Says Game is Purposely Unbalanced

From what I have heard, the game is a lot more balanced than MvC2 was, with most of the cast being viable unlike the 8 out of 50+ characters in MvC2. There is still some imbalance though.

Also, on another note...Take You For a Ride is back, and with 3 new remixes, this being one of them..

I really enjoyed playing the arcade version of MvC2 so I am considering getting this game.

Can anyone tell me if a fighting game is really worth the $60?

What content will keep me playing this game for hours beyond that of buttonmashing?

I seriously appreciate any advice!

Most fighting games are worth the 60$, mainly due to their replayability. MvC2 has been played nonstop for the past 10 years now, and Capcom has been trying to make it so that this game will last just as long.

So for from what I heard, there's going to be the Arcade/Story mode, done by an actual Marvel comic writer, as well as each character getting their seperate story. On top of that you have the online mode, which will be where most people will be spending their time fighting against other people across the country/world/etc., as well as having a training mode(like most fighting games have), a challenge mode(from what I heard, don't take my word for it), as well as a Shadow Mode which will be like a Ghost mode where you fight teams and playstyles chosen by the creators of the game, and such, and then your regular Versus mode for fighting CPUs or other people.

Hmm that does sound worth it.

I remember playing the arcade MvC2 and loved it.

Also I played a lot of DBZ fighting games all the time with my friends back in the day.

I guess if I liked that ill like this.

certainly, fighting games are very deep affairs, and the really good ones (which marvel is shaping up to be) have almost UNLIMITED replayability. the important thing to remember is that you want to be playing against other people, because thats where fighting games really shine: competitive play. pick characters you like and learn their combos and nuances, then see how you compare to others. fighting games open the door to a whole community of like minded people, i can say personally that ive met a whole bunch of folks that i would never have met if i dident play competitively in games like soul caliber 4 and street fighter 4 (both worth checking out if you decide you like fighting games btw, and their dirt cheap nowadays, sc4 in particular).

here this is the most important fighting games sight around, anything you want to know can be found here: www.shoryuken.com

I don't at all understand the hype for MvC3. Why would anyone be excited for a sequel to one of the most broken and unbalanced games? I could see being cautiously optimistic that it will indeed fix all of the issues of the previous game, but to hype it and get this excited is extremely irrational.

Lol why the hell is that song in the MvC3.
I'm disappointed that Psylocke is not around or Gambit.
I've been a long time Vs. fan, but did not pick up the Tatsunake vs. Capcom, a fighting game using wii controls, no thanks.
I am curious what controls from TvC did they put in MvC3? All I heard was that it was easier to perform aireal raves.

You think balance is the onl;y thing that matters? Marvel 2 has a number of high tier characters bigger then any other fighting game, there is hardly a lack of variety. The game's hectic 3 vs 3 design has gone unreplicated and the community around Marvel 2 is still huge. If you want an example of a very recent match that shows the hype and skill portrayed by the marvel 2 community search for The Final Chapter Neo vs Clockw0rk money match.

I am a little disappointed at the inclusion of Storm, Magneto, and Sentinel (for obvious reasons), but my sheer joy at the sight of Dante, Trish, Deadpool, and Wesker have outweighed that worry. Now all that remains to be seen is if Galactus doesn't destroy that joy of mine, seeing as he's shaping up to be a Grade S Bullshit Magician.
WHAT?
Explain those obvious reasons to me. Some of the most prominent characters for Marvel's universe are in a game called MARVEL vs Capcom and you're disappointed?
...Are you unaware of their status in Marvel vs. Capcom 2? Unless they've been seriously reworked, which doesn't seem to be the case, there's going to be a lot of Magneto/Storm/Sentinel teams online for entirely the wrong reasons.
From what I've heard they are all being toned down slightly.
At least, Sentinel is. I haven't read anything about Magneto or Storm.

... As for anyone else, who knows, they already said that Frank West and Phoenix Wright might make their way back in.

Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth are both in it, just not as playable characters as of now.
He could very well end up as DLC but I'm not sure if he is going to be a playable character.

I have no team planned out, I can't pull off any combos longer than Hadouken, and I will be awful online. YAY!! In fairness I'm getting it for the subject matter and complete madness of the experience, not the online kudos.

Good on you man, I played MvC2 for years and I'm still not great at it, I'm okay, but not online player material. My friends and I play it on my 360 a lot as I had to get it again! As long as you have fun, that's all that matters, but who knows, maybe we can master this one?

Already pre ordered and payed for, special edition. Big fan of comics, and big fan of video games. This is like the ultimate mix for me.

Spending time creating extra mixes of a mediocre theme song is time wasted in balancing the game.
I doubt they spent all that much time on it, don't worry.

There is a lack of variety when only like 6 characters are actually good. The game is also broken with infinites and whatnot. Just because a bunch of people still play a broken and unbalanced game doesn't make it good. If there was a large community for Bloody Roar still around now, it wouldn't prove that the game is awesome, it just would prove people are still playing it. Popularity has no relation to quality; if it did, then the horrible Transformers movies would've won Oscars.

There are more like 16 characters that are tournament viable and infinites don't hurt the game in the slightest. You might kill one character with an infinite or maybe sometimes two if the opponet did a bad assist but that's not much different from any other game where combo's take off 50 percent on a good hit. And in a strong competetive community you can bet that a game won't last ten years if their isn't a rich competetive aspect to master. It's not the random will of the God's that a game maintains a highly sophisticated competetive community, It's the reason Go has been around for so long.

I've got the game already. Hooray for stores that can legally break street date!

It really is a lot of fun. I already feel like I'm better at 3 than I ever was at 2.
