Yeah...Netflix Marvel sure does love it's corridor fight scenes.
You thank the Raid movies for the hallway fights. The influence is strong; especially in Daredevil Season 2

I loved DD S1.

DD S2 was good, but had too many sub-plots. If I had to choose, I'd drop the Elektra sub-plot entirely and save her for DD S3.
Loved Luke Cage.

Jessica Jones I need to finish.

Iron Fist, I don't feel invested and looks boring; which is a real shame.

Defenders looks awesome, and hopefully they can fix Ironfist's character and make him more likeable.

Actually, I just thought of something. Was Luke Cage in the comics, so stupidly goody two shoes as they made him in the tv show? The whole "I don't swear, so I say stupid things like Sweet Christmas" and other inane bullshit? Because when I think of the phrase "Luke Cage, Hero for Hire" the last thing I think about is some guy who is unnaturally good like he is portrayed. It almost feels like they tried to remove any potentially negative connotations to his source material, that they made him equally unbelievable, but from the other direction.

So yeah, did he swear in the comics? I mean, I understand that they were written during a time when profanity wasn't so openly used, especially around young people, but did he say stupid shit like "Sweet Christmas" in the comics?

I hated everything that had to do with The Hand on the previous series, it was just so bland, boring and aggressively uninteresting which is fucking ridiculous considering that's Ninja's in New York which is as stupid a premise as you can have and it should be fun, but it really genuinely sucked, however, Sigourney Weaver is the villain, so there's that.☮️
I got very ninja'd out after Season 2 of Daredevil. It's a sign of the overall problem with Netflix Marvel, in that they have too many episodes too little material to fill them. I'm hoping the interplay between these miserable motherfuckers will bring out enough material this time.

As far as I know, he never swore in the comics (remember, even with the controversial subjects, his comics were aimed at young kids). In the 70s they introduced "Sweet Christmas" (or small variations) as his catch phrase and as a way to fake swear. At this point, it has become so much part of his character as "Hulk Smash!" or "It's Clobberin' Time!" is for others.

I've seen worse trailers in my time, but I gave up on this crap halfway through Luke Cage.

The only good stuff was when Frank Castle was on screen.

Scale seems a bit forced. I mean these are meant to be the little guys. I mean "the war for New York"? Where is everyone else then?

Otherwise, I anticipate the payoff to watching these different shows. I hope its not a let down.

Im looking forward to this. Ive enjoyed daredevil (punisher arc has just finished) and saw all of Luke Cage which I loved.

Im yet to see JJ or Iron fist but with a team up you can carry weaker charecters as there is more to get in in a shorter time.

My thoughts on each of the netflix shows-

Jessica jones
Honestly, I loved the tone and the show, good amount of humour, creepy creepy villain who was so well played by tennant, a lot of messed up stuff going on. Really really good. Only worry is who her next villain will be, because it might end up being like Daredevil- the second series villain can;t hold up to the kingpin

Luke Cage
the first netflix show I watched, I weirdly enjoyed the first few episodes. Cottonmouth was an interesting villain, as is shades and cottonmouths sister. Cottonmouth had a sort of tragic backstory, and genuinely seemed to care about his club and his family, but had been forced into the gangland. Then they killed him, introduced diamondback and honestly it went to pot at the end. The most cliche villain backstory ever, terrible writing making diamond back seem "kerraazy" and hnestly made me wonder how the fuck this guy was the leader of a criminal syndicate. Cottonmouth may have been struggling but I honestly wanted them to go into "rat backed into a corner" mode and make him bring out some big guns, maybe hire an assassin or similar and get into a dispute with Shades. Diamond back could have been a better second series villain. The main issue though was pacing, with lots of fluff and then everything happening at once.

Daredevil season 1 and 2
daredevil season 1 was amazing. the villain, the action, the side characters. Just wow. Season 2 started alright with the punisher arc and the conflict between the two but then my biggest issue with the Netflix shows turned up... The hand. Fuck me this was overly complex, reptitive and just generally a bit confusing and shit with all the subplots going on.

Iron fist
woah boy. My favourite Marvel character getting a show made me excited, but this let me down. The fighting levels varied wayyyy too much (Danny can best Coleen, Bride of Nine spiders, 2 x professionals killers in a fight of their choice, Davos, a drunken master and scythe. But gets the shit beaten out of him by a member of the hand. Nah.) Danny himself was really badly written and had literally no character development, the fight scenes were too slow, a couple of the side characters had twists out of nowhere (Joy at the end). The redeeming features were Ward, Harold, Davos and Coleen. But fuck me. The hand. Why the hand? I'm bored of them already. Give me Kun-Lun monks trying to force danny to come back to actually do his role as a living weapon. Give me more of Harold. Give me Hydra. Give me literally anyone but the fucking hand. Madame Gau was interesting but she's losing it now, and I swear to god if they made the hand residents from one of the hidden cities I'll kick off. Also the way the backstory was presented annoyed me, it should have been the opening sequence, even just a rough montage before going into more detail in the future. Damn this show.

NOT THE HAND! Those guys just suck so badly.

Please no, lets just get that Kingpin actor out here and make him the bad guy, in fact just make him the new big bad of the MCU after Thanos inevitably dies.

*tiny voice* We should get Doctor Doom

What, who said that?

Also Norman Osbourn.

Though I do want Spider-Man and Daredevil to team up against Kingpin.

That would be so awesome. Can you imagine if Disney suddenly announced they were going to do Dark Reign in THIS political climate?

Doctor Doom would also be great, only problem is that he kinda comes as a package with the Fantastic Four and well........

And well everyone hated the last FF, and the rumors of Spider-Man coming to real Marvel were true, why not that FF is working its way home? I mean, we got Uatu, which I figured would be in Fox's hands since he tends to be more Fantastic Four tied.

I think it's time we as a society agreed that ninjas aren't actually that cool.
We're not pre-teens in the '90s anymore, it's safe to accept now.

Well, it is an inverse function.

As number of Ninjas go up, coolness goes down. The cool ninjas are generally the lonewolf ones who are awesome alone. A bunch of faceless Ninja goons suck. Generally the threshold begins at 4 though for a noticeable loss of cool. At 5 or more, it then drops significantly.

I'd argue that loner characters are also pretty terrible.
I'll just say it: Wolverine is a one-dimensional pile of scowling and stabbing. He ruined the XMen by taking an ensemble and turning them into his rotating cast of sidekicks.
Batman is soooo much better when he's a sociable fellow with a bat-family, who hangs around with other Justice-leaguers. He's super-boring when he's grim-dark "I am the night".

Tell me, what ninja-media has actually been good? Not media where there are some ninja-mooks but they aren't the central foe mind you, I'm talking about media where ninjas are the meat of the narrative. The answer is none.
Ninjas are terrible, loners are terrible, Ninja-loners are the worst thing we've ever produced as a species.
Worse than global warming.
Worse than genocide.
Worse than slavery.
Worse than mayonnaise.
Completely without merit.

Ninjas are weirdly poorly represented. Despite the prevelance of "Ninjas", few things really are very Ninja-y. Hell, only games where I felt like I was really playing a ninja game was Red Ninja and Tenchu Z. Most games with ninjas are...well, fighting games, or hack n slash games like Revengeance or Ninja Gaiden.

It is not the fault of ninjas.

I've never read a single frame of a Punisher comic, so I have no idea what constitutes in or out of character for him.

I liked him because he had good action scenes. The prison scene was the better than anything else in the Marvel shows. He looked like a proficiently violent person making it up as he went, as opposed to Daredevil who just looked like, well, like TV-grade choreography.

He also had this world-weary, almost put-upon thing going on, which is basically an instant win with me. Like that bit with the pawn shop dealer who tries to sell him child porn. Dude almost looks frustrated, like he's thinking, "C'mon man, I was almost out the door. Now you go and do that and I'm going to have to Punish you to death."

Ahhh. Ok. I get it. Knowing what I know about the Punisher made me almost hate Daredevil for what they did to him.

To be short, Nicky Cavella once dug up the Castle family's remains and urinated on them on Local TV. Punisher Saw it. He killed and he killed until he got to Cavella. And this happened

The Punisher is haunted by his past, but in a way that makes Frank effectively dead. To see him recount his family's life is usually way out of character for him. It happens from time to time, but in the end, all the Punisher wants is to kill criminals.
