I think they should do a bit of a mix and match for 3, Wrex over Grunt any day for example, but Samara is very useful I thought and the justicar issue makes for potential storylines/sidequests. It will be interesting to see what they do with 3 and no mistake

Miranda was OK but didn't you find that, romance aside, once the loyalty mission is over they all have nothing new to say? I am in a loop with Garrus now he just keeps droning on and on about his reach and her flexibility, seriously dude, not gonna happen, my female Shepard is a one man woman (weeeeeeeell, apart from that one time in the first play through with Thane, but he is dying and all...)
And not sad at all btw, I think most women like men who can cry, you know, maybe not at a game, but that is their problem, find a female gamer, my husband cries (I've broken his spirit, lol). If it makes you feel better I cry through the whole of the endgame! It is just so tense even when you know you did everything right.

Lol, he cries at Home Makeover too, my favourite was that little old lady 'Sweet Alice', who lived in a real poor area and looked after everyone on the neighbourhood despite her own home being wrecked by floods they gave her this massive 'Grillbastard', BBQ
I expect it endears you to your GF It is good that you can that immersed in the game, I feel a right twonk sitting there crying and killing though :-O

While there was no one as annoying or useless as Liara from the first game, I somewhat disliked the two Cerberus Ops, Miranda and Jacob. Miri's an ansgty ***** because she's too perfect and Jacob, while having a much better voice, is just plain boring. I used to feel the same way about Jack until I romanced her, and now she's one of my favorites. Maybe if I got deeper into their conversation trees, I'd warm up to the Cerberus fellows, but I think it's more about the principle. I don't like Cerberus, not one little bit. Samera is also bland and useless. Why are all the asari companions emotionless as concrete slabs? Why couldn't we have someone like the matriarch bartender on Ilium? She was more interesting than Samera and Liara combined.

Favorites are more or less everyone else. Order would probably be Garrus, Mordin, Grunt, Tali, Jack, Legion, Thane, and Zaeed. Don't get mad at me for putting L, T, and Z last, it's a very close list.

I never saw that episode of Extreme Makeover... but your hubbie sounds cool. The one that wrenched my heart out was the little girl dying of cancer who spent all her time making necklaces to sell for charities for other sick kids.

I love all of the characters.. I just wish you could get Legion earlier, and that finishing his loyalty quest didn't kickstart the end of the game.

I thought Grunt looked too different from the other Krogan though.. it was really strange. I wish he didn't look so strange, but I loved him as a character.

my favorite character of all was Mordin Solus.. my team was usually Mordin and Thane.

but I didn't hate any of them.. I didn't even dislike any of them. There was no "kaiden" this time around.

My least favorite character would have to be Miranda. I didn't have quite as many Paragon points as I thought I did when she and Jack came to blows, and the catty ***** wouldn't even talk to me for the rest of the game, even after getting out of the Collector Base with no casualties and the crew intact. Besides which, she's useless in combat and her personal mission made me like her less, not more.

Tali, on the other hand, remains the single most interesting character in the franchise, being a strong and sympathetic character who turned out to be very carefully fleshed out. She's not the best in combat, but her backstory (and the entire Quarian race, for that matter) more than make up for that.

Least favourite: Miranda and Jack. Annoyingly, the ability to use Warp overrode the fact that I didn't want to use Miranda at the end, but when absolutely everything has a Barrier, and that's the Infiltrator's one weakness, I needed her and Thane for maximum Warp.

Poor Jacob, seems like he's everyone least favorite. (Mine too, sorry to say) I feel like they really missed a chance with him too. In one of his first conversations he says he used to be an Alliance corsair, and I sat up and said "Woo! Space pirate! Awesome!"

Unfortunately, he then never mentions that bit of back story again and settles into boring space-jock for the rest of the game. So unlikable.

I guess they were trying to write more of a guy's guy for the ladies to romance into this game, since most men seem to hate on my dear beloved Kaiden. But Jacob was just too generic to care about. A dull vocal performance didn't help any either. (Not a terrible performance, just... didn't bring anything extra special to the character)

I also think it's funny how many people here seem to have hated and gladly killed off Kaiden in the first game, but love Jack in the second one. They are nearly identical from a storytelling point of view. Forced into a biotic camp as a kid, mistreated and abused there, killed the person/people who ran the place... The only real difference is Kaiden figured out how to deal with his anger issues and put on clothes...
