Having your choices carry over from the first, and seeing the preparations you have or haven't made for the final mission affect the lives of all your crew is great too.

The entire time I was playing it I was thinking, "this is fucking amazing". The opening sequence is powerful stuff too.
You mean by choices carrying over that either Kaidan or Ashley make a few minute appearance, or will Liara knew that you had a romance with her? They were pulling punches for ME 3.

The opening sequence wasnt that amazing. It was just an excuse for you to change your old Shepard to a new one.
Yes, they were only things to carry over, I'm a complete liar and really I found no other carry overs whatsoever.

And yes, the opening sequence was that amazing. It was a plot device that came up later too, but given your level of attention that you've just indicated I doubt you noticed.

No, they weren't the only things that carried over. There were many carry-overs. But they were all very minor. For example, few of the biggest decisions in ME: Wrex and Kaidan or Ashley. Those choices didn't really affect the game much, only in very minor way. Of course it was occasionally fun to see familiar faces, but the carry-overs were so minor they had little importance.

I believe they were pulling punches, because for example, Rachni's were left pretty much untouched in ME 2. If I remember correctly, there was jsut one e-mail or a news piece about them.
