So here is the story. I have all 3 ME games on EA Origin. I have been told that save imports are automatic so I don't have to tinker with folders and files.

So I beaten Mass Effect 1, immedietly went to the second game, I check the Import ME 1 character, but its empty, well shit looks like I have to tinker with game folders. So I browsed the net and found out how to do it and I did it, but than for some reason the game will not launch. So I searched the web again and it turns out that because of the import it somehow rendered the game unlaunchable, than I found out that the only way to fix it is to rename the exe. launchers. So now the game launches, I played around the first level a bit and see that everything is fine, but oh no I was not out of the woods yet so I decided to exit game, and than launch it again (I have to anyway when I have to turn off my PC before I sleep.) so it launches but the seconds later after it reaches the main menu, The game crashes. I launch it again, the same crashes. Well fuck :p

How do PC gamers manage to play this game no problem? This is why I want EA/Bioware to release a Remastered Trilogy with all 3 games in 1 package and not split into 3 individual games to negate problems like what I am experiancing now.

Well, if you have a PS3, they did release the trilogy on it with DLC even bundled in it. Plus, it is Origin free. If not,I don't know what to say other than I think Mass Effect was a shitty port on PC. I even had to fiddle with .exe's and stuff on the first one to fight crashes.

I feel your pain though, I am trying to mod FO3 on Steam right now and it is a pain in the ass with crashes and missing meshes.

You might have to do this the hard way and download a save editor. You'll have to manually enter in all the choices you may or may not have made, and remake your character. It's a dandy little tool for people who want a new save but don't want to put in the effort of playing the first game again.

But that is not the problem I am having now. My problem is that the game crashes everytime I "Press any key to start" in the main menu.

The save transfer worked when I fixed it originally and I did play a bit of the first level. than I turned the game off and turned it on and that's when the crashes began.

Now this game is borderline unplayable.

Ah. I see.

Have you tried repairing your installation? Origin should give you the option for that.

Open up your Origin client and right-click your Mass Effect 2 game, and the option box that pops up has the "Repair Game" option. Click it, and the client will scan your game files and fix any problems.

Well I did the repair gmae and it still sadly crashed. While it was on the main menu this time.

No no no. And I bought all that DLC for nothing now.

I read that people uninstall and redownloaded still had the same problems. They had to remove every single thing related to Mass Effect 2.

Ew. Not sure what to tell you, I never had that problem. I guess contact customer support and ask them about it.

thats weird ive always heard its a pretty stable game and never had an issue myself. might be worth a reinstall that said you can grab save games from online that cover all the choices you normally will make

Never had an issue with the games up until I started modding them. I looked around the net for a bit though. Most of the people crashing either didn't have updated DirectX or .NET framework. So make sure you did update those.

Also try running as administrator and compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2. If you get any error codes, do let us know as well.

Possibly this might work: create a link to "masseffect2.exe" (not to the launcher) on your desktop and add: -nomoviestartup to the description in properties. Keep the brackets, single space between brackets and extra line.

I solved the problem the easiest way possible. I got the non-Origin version. I played the game through 5 times in a row; I think it crashed once.

Well here is how I figure because just now I played throught the game. Once it reaches the main menu, IMMEDIATELY click on Resume Game, don't waste like 2-3 seconds.

I agree with this guy, join the PS3 Master Race! =P

I'd recommend re-installing everything and starting over, that seems to fix any problems I have when I mod a game to oblivion and it doesn't work

Well I do own a PS3, I would not be asking in the Forums which is the best MLB the Show game which is exclusive to Sony.

... Well, that sucks. I had something similar with Mass Effect 3, I fixed whoever by unistalling and making a clean game install. Maybe try that see if works for you.

Have you tried deleting the config files in "BioWare\Mass Effect 2\BIOGame\Config"? Then letting the game recreate them when restarted.

Alright to let everyone know I think the game is fixed. I eneter the main menu and pressing Resume Game and Load Game does not crash the game. Already I got Garrus in my Party.

I even let the game on idle (just left the game paused) when I went to the bathroom and it did not crash on its own.

Alt-Tabbing does not crash it either.
