I read online that Mass Effect 2 will allow people who played Mass Effect 1 to load their saved games in to Mass Effect 2 that will effect how Mass Effect 2 plays out and that the main story is that Shepherd joins a group called Cerberus (SPOILER ALERT) However in Mass Effect 1 there is a side quest where you have go and find Cerberus Soldiers and kill them, surely if the first part of this statement is true then the Mass Effect 2 lot cannot work, why would Cerberus hire someone who tried to dismantle their operation, anyone else thinking along my lines?

As much as I love Mass Effect I tend to concur. I did that side mission and smashed the Cerberus base after they killed Admiral whatshisname (Kohaku?). I was fully determined to bring them down and now I find out in ME2 that I'm siding with them!?! Confused much?

Because Cerberus is all about using whatever tools they can manipulate/bribe/force to do their will. I know my Shep shot down every Cerberus dog (heeee...'dog'...*ahem*) that she could find, but I've also played through the first hour or so of ME2, and I can tell you ... Cerberus does hold your leash. (Oh, I am just ON with the dog jokes tonight....*snerk*)

Use Google brah.
You are indebted to them for resurrecting you (yeah you die at the beginning) and they are the only ones willing to help you stop the Collectors.

Remember what Wrex said when you first meet him? He was a wise Krogan.

Because they are pro-humanity and hope to brain wash you? Like Bioware said it probabaly starts different depending on the side quest ala Cerberus hates you or guilts you into oweing them or is netural towards you...maybe?

It's pretty much this. I don't see why people are so hung up about it - the formal Cerberus outfit is... cool beans.

Allow me to throw another spanner in the works (SPOILER ALERT AGAIN) according to Wikipedia at the end of ME2 you could get an ending where Shepherd dies, whats the point in this if Mass Effect is going to be a trilogy

"My people have a saying. Seek out the enemy of your enemy, and you'll find a friend."

That's just from memory. Am I correct?

He deservet it though, Fist was a tool. Shep knows that the reapers, and by extension the collectors, are somewhat more of an issue than Cerberus. Also the elusive man (Guy in charge of cerberus) is voiced by Martin Sheen. I'd listen to Martin Sheen, the West Wing was an enjoyable show (Along with his many movie roles).

not really a spoiler, since most ME2 videos say that flat out. I suppose for ME3 you'll be playing someone else if you botch things up in ME2, So don't screw up.

Also, i'm hoping that cerberus mission from ME1 comes into play here. Shep certainly vigorously tried to shut them down in my file, heh.

Actually his name is "Illusive Man". I think everyone thought it was "Elusive Man" until they started printing his name. Even Liara got it wrong in the comic book :p

Illusive makes less sense in my mind.
Meh, you could make an argument for both. Honestly the definitions are kind of similar anyway.
