Not to sound at all weird or plain out there but I've come across quite a few forums and have found people going on about the convenience of Tali just happening to have the drugs and medicinal plants (not callin them herbs, I'm not a hippy) that allows Shepperd and Tali to have enough time to supposedly get it on before shes gotta suit up again, and how it detracts from the games realism. Granted I've been this guy from time to time but this time I gotta side with Bioware, because as the some of the greatest story tellers of our time they know that a story must begin and end, but everything in between is totally up to interpretation. SO, I propose this instead, why not come up millions of different way what this event could of happened.

1) Biologically, drugs and medicinal plants give the body a temporarily increased immunity, but as a consequence the same drugs leave the immune system temporarily weakened or if she repetitively took them a tolerance to the drug would develop causing either mass withdrawal or an addiction to a drug that is now useless to allow tali and Shepperd that time of their skin touching.

2) What if they never even had sex? The o-so-curious veil of black that sets in before anything to steamy arises always leaves it totally open interpretations (some more than others, you know who I'm talking about Jack and Miranda). It could have been them making-out for the hour or just feeling the touch each others skin. It doesn't have to be sex, I mean she only had a fever, sore-throat, and clogged sinuses (don't know about you, but the first time I made out I was actually experiencing all three in a mild form).

I wont go any further seeing as I want you guys to also respond with your own "What if's".

So go ahead have a ball, just please don't fill the comments with "They totally had the sex all over everywhere"

Well personally if I was restrained to a suit and if I left it, faced death, I would certainly make sure I had stuff like that in case of emergency...or sex, what ever floats your boat, I just went with Miranda

Eh, it's not that unusual. As she said, those suits have a lot of pockets.

Besides, if even a tear in your suit can lead you to getting an infection, is it really unusual for her to be carrying about things that might stop said infection? Bearing in mind she's going up against guns, cannons, lasers and explosions as her daily life.

I must admit I thought it was a slight retcon from the interpretation I got from ME1 which implied the Quarians were more likely to die from such things rather than just get sick, but it's not that big of a deal I suppose.

It let me get it on with Tali. I'm okay with it.

I seem to remember Bioware backtracked on this a few years back and said that with a proper change in ship's atmosphere, Tali could leave her suit, it would just be inconvenient every time they docked somewhere. The same isn't true of the Migrant Fleet, because their ships are so old. (It may be a handwave, but they have done their research in the past)

Maybe in preparation Shepard had his cabin atmosphere changed, but separated from the rest of the ship? Tali specifically mentions that you can do that.

So you tell me that Tali popped a truckload of antibiotics to get it on with Shepard? Not too bad of an explanation, really, though it still does sound a bit forced. I mean, it's surely less of a "meaningful romance" and more of a "hey, we're comrades and all, let's have some sex!".

And yet still, Shepard can't be homosexual. Great.

They have been comrades between saving the galaxy twice. It's not a spur of the moment type thing :p

I will admit, they seem to have done a bit of back peddling. In the first game it was made to sound as if the mere presence of bacteria would cause a Quarian to die. Now all of the sudden, it's not the infections that are a problem, it's just a bad allergic reaction. I mean, it's a relatively small thing, and it's not a bad idea, but it does feel a bit... forced. As for having immuno-boosters and whatnot, if you follow the whole dialogue path, she does mention that she needs to do some research, and presumably she could buy some of those, and the rest, would have on hand, anyway. As for the why, hey, if I was really into someone, but was stuck in a bubble, I'd risk all sorts of unpleasantness to be close to them.

It's worth noting you have one of the best genetic biologists in the galaxy right there on board.

He can even give you advice (he's awesome like that).

She said that most Spec Op teams carry around large amounts of Anti-biotics and drugs to help in the case of suit rupture and then her marine friend tells us that front liners don't get that amount of supplies. It could be quite possible for her to have the same supplies that the Spec Op teams use, I would expect her to take them. She's probably had sex before anyway or at least gone through some sort of sex-ed about proper suit and drug maintenance so she would know what to do and would have planned to bring that stuff on board.

When I was bedding Garrus, he gave me advice on stuff like that. Even to go so far as to send videos demonstrating Turian-on-human sexual positions that feel good for both partners.

Mordin's awesome. One of the funniest characters in game.

I didn't see it as re-writing canon or streching the limits of what I could belive. They can geneticaly alter Volus so they don't need suits, if they can do that why can't they just have powerful anti-biotics.

Since he can give advice I'm guessing it isn't all that odd for aliens and humans to have sex.

Well Mordin was funny as hell with his advice, I thought it was awesome, as for the Tali thing I thought it was a bit odd at first to be honest, but I shrugged it off, after they spoke about it a bit more why their biology was a bit screwy (plants on their world needing to spread via animals because there were no insects, thus leading to lower immune systems because of beneficial bacteria) it sort of made sense, a lot more then most Sci-Fi anyway.

As for Tali just jumping into bed with Shepard, I got the hint from the first game, and this could just be me, she had a bit of a crush on him even way back then, after all he treated her with respect, saved her life, helped her with her pilgrimage, and by helping him she became a hero of her people.

I went with Tali because Miranda was a huge ***** most of the game, yea I felt sorry for her at times, but Jesus, and the idea of sleeping with Jack was really squicky, she's far too damaged to even consider sleeping with her to be a good idea, it would be like taking advantage of a drunk chick, just not ethical, she needs years of therapy before she's ready for any kind of relationship.

Well that answers a question I had, hope being a dick to her early on doesn't impede things. Do they ever show what she (or any other Quarian for that matter) looks like without her suit? I'm more interested in that than 1's and 0's getting it on.

I didn't think it was much back peddling honestly. Now if the purpose of sex is actually procreation, then maybe sex with Tali or Garrus is really kind of bizarre. At least you could have a daughter with Liara, not like I would want one.

I liked listening to the Turian and the Quarian in the bar on Illium. the Quarians had to know they would be exposed and have countermeasures, so it makes sense they would also consider measures to deal with not getting exposed, in a matter of speaking.
