a mediocre shooter that's mostly about talking VS a giant turd with shiny marbles VS a RTWP with repetive encounters mixed with retard speak.

Out of these Dragon Age; atleast it was a ok for an rpg and it's not like we get much to choose from nowadays.
I suppose ME2 is ok too, but there's simply better shooters out there.

I'm gonna say Oblivion purely for the fact that I have yet to play Mass Effect 2 and I only started playing Dragon Age a few days ago

i never played the second mass effect but i loved the first but if i had to pick a favorite it has to be oblivion i FUCKING loved that game and i loved going through random set ups, while most my set ups center around magic. i loved grinding till the wee hours of the morning finishing up the guilds and then when i got the pc version i went through the mods and loved it even more. i played DA:O and it was boring, stodgy and the characters were so freaking annoying and your best friend...i couldn't turn him in fast enough. i loved mass effect 1 but it doesnt hold a candle to that great game

Ive spent more time on Oblivion than Mass Effect 1, 2, and Dragon Age: Origins combined. And Ive beaten each of those games at least twice. So I hope that gives just a little hint as to how much I love Oblivion.

Having played and beaten all three with multiple characters (yes I need a life) I'd have to go with Oblivion. I'm a huge sucker for fantasy RPG's though.

DA's combat controls pretty much sucked IMO.

Mass Effect 2, followed by DragonAge, followed by Oblivion. I simply found that, although I played Oblivion for countless more hours than either of the others, I didn't enjoy said countless hours. Mass Effect 2 was fun, had amazing characters, and I enjoyed it equally throughout both playthroughs.

Don't take this as a flame, i'm genuinely asking, because i've played this game you're talking about here, and i missed the tactics part.
Well, there were ways to break the tactics, I won't deny that (like the mage-stacking). But Dragon Age, especially on higher levels, required you to put some thought into things like positioning, what skills to use when etc..
A classical example would be the use of the warriors ability to "draw aggro" along with a shield warrior using Shield Wall to resist knockdown while the rogue backstabbed. More intricate examples entails mages using specific combinations to achieve better effects.

Compared to Oblivions "I HACK AT YOU!"/"I FIREBALL YOU!" and Mass Effect 2s "I shoot you dead" (This is particularly true if you go above Normal difficulty and everyone gets armor and/or shields) Dragon Age stands out as a masterpiece of tactical gaming. It isn't that great, but it is far closer to the old Isometric RPGs then either Oblivion or ME2 in this regard.
Okay, so basically, you make sure to have a warrior set with the "defensive" tactics that fill themselves out for you and position your rogue(s) behind him. TBH it doesn't seem any more complex than sneak/bows on oblivion, but that's just my opinion.

Argh, tough choice, all 3 games have their very much unique charms, but if I had to pick, Oblivion, largely thanks to the huge amount of gameplay you can draw out of it.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 both delivered a FAR stronger single player campaign. It's a simple choice, really. Oblivion was average at best, and Dragon Age, while a very enjoyable game, didn't really pick up steam for me until Landsmeet. And by then it's nearly over.

I rate it like this:

#1 - Dragon Age: Origins
#2 - Mass Effect 2
#8,490,106 - Oblivion

:p

I cant believe Im saying this, but ME2s story is so bad, Oblivion beats it. One of the worst video games from a storyline point Ive ever played, and an absolute disgrace to the first game.

If it had ME1 in there, Id count in as first, but since only its "all out shooter" attempt at a "sequel" is given, it goes to the bottom.
Wait, wait, WAIT.

You're calling Mass Effect's story bad, and you're saying Oblivion is the best of the three? Oblivion had one of the most bland and boring stories I've ever seen in a game.

Oh no, an evil cult! We need to find the heir to the throne and have him stop this evil!
Snore.

Oblivion easily and then Dragon Age followed by Mass Effect. I'm a sucker for a nice medieval-esque western rpg

You want to know why, just watch Zero Punctuation.
Yes because your supposed to take Yahtzee seriosly. *facepalm*
OT: Oblivion as I spent a unhealthy amount of time on it.
I played Oblivion before Zero Punctuation existed, and i still had the same thoughts as Yahtzee had in his review.

HIs toilet-humor aside, he is still a game critic, and some things he says says are his honest opinion. You just have to use your brain to figure out what.
