No. I don't want other people running around the universe that I created mucking it up because they want to do a renegade option just because they think it's funny. If they want to do multiplayer, release a different game set in the Mass Effect universe, but has no chance of creating your own story. For instance, you could play as part of a squad on Earth when the Reapers hit. This happens no matter what, so there's no problem with messing up someone's canon. Perhaps the final mission could be with you and your team providing cover while Shep takes of to gather allies. That is a game I would play.
What if the leader was the one who chose the decisions, say your host then you decide what happens? would you do that? :)

I'd play an MMO set in the Mass Effect universe, because I love the world-building Bioware have done. It'd be a lot more enjoyable than TOR, that's for sure.
I wouldn't play a Mass Effect multiplayer shooter though. Not a chance. I really hope Bioware don't waste time on multiplayer crap that they could have been using to make the single-player Mass Effect experience even more enjoyable.

The thing people miss is that it would be very easy to put multiplayer in the mass effect experience. Simply have the partners be the players. Making decisions would be the role of the host. THIS HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE PEOPLE! It's known as Neverwinter Nights 2, and it was a lot of fun.

On a side note: I hope you're happy Escapist, you just made a PC gamer type in "Play Xbox LIVE" so I could post this.

Exactly this. I`m already worried about how much additional work Kinect is giving the ME dev team.

That would be...interesting. If I didn't lead, I'd have to be on the same wavelength as the commander of the squad. If he or she goes around doing everything renegade and slaughter/sacrificing people just because, then I'm not going to be able to play with him. Still, that would be part of the game, wouldn't it? One person makes the decisions, and the rest have to follow orders, even if the disagree. You're on to something there.

I'm not opposed to a Bioware or Mass Effect specific multiplayer experience, what I AM concerned with is them doing it in ME3. The company needs to do everything in its power to make it as epic an experience as is humanly possible, no one needs the distraction of integrating multiplayer and balancing it right now. Seeing it as a DLC or part of a stand-alone game later in the ME series, I'd be damn excited for it, especially if it is co-op and still has a great integrated story (A team of Spectres who can talk individually or together to people? WANT IT).

I'm not saying this would make me cancel my pre-order or anything, nothing could stop me, BUT, I would be very concerned and those concerns would not be alleviated until I finished the game. Plus, if I felt the game WAS a bit lacking, I know my initial feeling would be to blame the multiplayer even if it wasn't necessarily to blame.

So for now, I hope this is just a rumor.

If it was in that way i guess it would pretty much HAVE to be played with friends as other wise, well anything could happen. I completely agree, it sticks with the Mass Effect Paragon/Renegade system so yeah who knows XD I would like it if it had co-op as Iv'e always wanted to play ME with my friends

as long as the MMO let me mine minerals and craft things with it.. ya know, ore gets turned into iron, then iron can get turned into armor plating, then armor plating turned into ship/body armor

I am 110% AGAINST them putting any sort of multiplayer in this game. For crying out loud, every single game does not need to have co-op and multiplayer. Mass Effect is my favorite game/game series, and its a very personal experience. I will not have it sullied by mixing other players experiences and choices with mine.

Eh, if they want to put it in, that's fine. I'd never use it. I'm pretty much friendless on Live, and I'm gonna let my Gold subscription die.

I would prefer they experiment with the multiplayer stuff after the trilogy is finished, though.

I won't use it. The reason I'm against it is because what is supposed to be an epic end to a trilogy is already on a short 2 year dev cycle. Add in that they are having to incorporate multiplayer and Kinect and I'm starting to think that the single player is going to suffer big.

Eh, so long as it doesn't detract from the single player, I'm fine.

Seems like an odd move though, if it's true. I mean, who the hell would by a Mass Effect game for its multiplayer?

There is a rumour on xbox360achievements that Mass Effect 3 will have a 4 player co-op mission mode, this may of course not be true but if it is are you guys looking forward to it and how do you think it will work? 4 Sheppards or what? :)

EDIT: Here is the link to the source of the rumour

I dont think i would welcome the idea much, because it would mean they took time and resources away from making the best single player experience possible to add an online multiplayer feature that the game does not need.

It's more than three years. They started working on this at the same time as ME2 so they could line up all the story stuff at once.

Could I have a source? That doesn't sound normal. Who starts working on a game's sequel while in the middle of working on that game?

I probably would play it but it would definately need a character creation section exclusively for online and would need to allow access to a multitude of races to create your online character with.

My question is what the game modes would be for the multiplayer however?

Everyone? Bungie did it with the Halos, EA sports is continually doing it, Ubisoft with the Ass'Creeds. Triple AAA titles are immense jobs alone, in a trilogy you'd be insane to just keep one going without making sure you can channel it straight into number three. BioWare were working on Dragon Age 2 before they'd finished origins because of their Deadlines.

Admittedly yes it would take away from the single player but I would like to see what they could come up with and everything you know?
