This attitude is the result of being bludgeoned by the whines self-righteous posters who think that I created a thread solely for the purpose of getting attention.
So, you said it yourself - you found the answer on the first page on a website about gaming. This website, to be precise. Why did you have to create a thread if the answer laid in front of you all this time?

I find it hard to believe you've browsed forums for 15 minutes and didn't find anything - a Google search for "mass effect ending" (and "mass effect controversy") yielded the Escapist article on the first page, as well as a bunch of YouTube videos. A search on this website for "mass effect ending" yielded the article immediately as first result.

So, I am genuinely confused. I just finished ME3 and for the life of me can't understand what all the anger towards Bioware is about.

Its an ending that brings about a definite conclusion to the series, while leaving enough information out to provide enough material for some pretty juicy DLC's.

I've played Mass Effect since its release in 2007, three playthroughs for ME1 and 2, just to get everything perfect for the third installment. I can honestly say, I am not disappointed by the ending I chose. Granted, its a little bit weak, and I am definitely curious about certain things, but I'm sure that they will be addressed in DLC.

Anyways, the point is...I would love to be able to understand what all the controversy is about surrounding the ending. Anyone able to help me with that?
Tell me, what difference there is between a very Paragon run and a very renegade run in the end.
There is no difference. =/
And there's the problem people have...one of many. Among them being the lack of closure, plot holes (why was Joker legging it? Where the Hell did this star child come from? Why can't we just turn the Reapers off? How the Hell can we fuse all organic and synthetic life? Why can't you point out the window if you made peace between Quarians and Geth and say 'there are synthetics out there that have made peace with their masters' Why is Shepard so accepting of what this kid says?) the lack of variety in a game based on choices and how they affect things, how you can have your EST be from anywhere from 2k to 8k and it makes no difference. Among other things.

Suspend your disbelief for 15 minutes. Go search the forums for a coherent, well-thought out reason why someone with neutral feelings about the ending should be angry enough to file a complaint with the FTC against Bioware. Time is ticking.

Edit: Not even the article on the main page is convincing enough for me to be that irritated.

This attitude is the result of being bludgeoned by the whines self-righteous posters who think that I created a thread solely for the purpose of getting attention. Its rare that I create a thread. I've created three maybe four in the years that I've been here. When I do, its because I'm sincerely curious about the responses of my fellow gamers. Obviously, 'my fellow gamers' are not a part of the user base here at the escapist. Not any more, anyways.

So yeah, when I'm condescended to and patronized by people who are bored enough to scan through threads in the hopes of finding something to chastise the creator about, I get a little defensive.

Seriously, get over yourselves.
Condescended to and patronized by? I asked a simple question and your immediate response was to blow your top. You've got a serious chicken/egg problem going on here if you think your comically inappropriate level of outrage is somehow justifiable. I've seen persecution complexes before, but they're seldom this inexplicable.

Ah, I see. This is an entitlement/attack post masquerading as "confusion". This explains your seething hostility. You do know there's an existing entitlement/attack post you could've chimed in on, as well.
