I don't want to get my hopes up, but if LotSB was around 1.5 GB, can I hope for more gameplay on the EC if it's clocking at 1.9 GB? Thoughts?

Apparently the Extended Cut needs to played from just before you attack the Illusive Mans onwards so I hope we get extra cutscenes and dialog before we talk to "He Who Shall Not Be Named". I imagine that a lot of the extended cut will feature after the ending though.

The size more likely reflects the various outcomes. Cutscenes can be a hefty chunk of 1s and 0s. If you listened to the interview, they even say you would need to play through again to better experience the content (as in see how it can be different).

Yeah, from what I can tell, you won't be seeing all of it in one play through, which as far as I'm concerned is a damn good thing, because it means we might get some actual different endings from radically different play throughs...

So what happens if you're past the
Cerberus base?
Can you not start the EC? Because that would really freaking suck if I had to play the whole game over again, just to get the additional stuff.

The game tosses you back before you kick in TIM's front door after you finish the game, so you shouldn't need to start from scratch.

Bioware has said they were limited to 2 GB because of the download limit for the X-Box.

The size is deceptively tiny.

If they are actually going to do a decent job of this, people want their decisions taken into account. So I will have an ending where I wrecked Wrex, abandoned Ash, roasted the Rachni, collected the collector base, gimped the Genophage, murdered Mordin, killed Kaidan, erm... quashed the Quarians, was appreciative to Ms Al Jilani and chose control. I will also have a playthrough where none of these things happened.

How much of that 1.9 GB is actually going towards YOUR ending? So we either get a lot of fleshed out content that takes into account no decisions, or maybe, if we're very lucky, 2-300MB of content for OUR ending.

Look up how much cutscene 300 MB gets you. It isn't much.

It is 1.9 gigs of more vivid reds blues and greens. Or some actual content that helps answer the problems made by the end.

on one hand i have a nagging "another reason why consoles are dragging down games" in my head, but at the same time, couldn't they just break it up into two downloads then? one is from one point to another certain point, and the 2nd chunk is that point to the end?

either way, seems like alot of fluff pieces, but trying not to judge until i see it myself.

Jessica Merizan said that it only adds about 10 minutes for each playthrough

It's likely to account for the different scenarios, so whilst it's pretty good that they're now (finally) making the ending more personalised, you won't actually get to experience even 10% of that 2 gigs during your ending.

I'm assuming it's going to be filled with pre-rendered cutscenes, which can take up a lot of space. Not to mention different outcomes will mean different scenes. They most likely learned their lesson and won't be using the same cutscene with a varied colour palette. Don't get fooled by a big file size.

according to bioware they have now added 5 more endings:
pink explosion
yellow explosion
black explosion
pink-red explosion
and then invisible explosion.
all in HD at about 1.9 gb in .wmv files.

Finish the game and wait until after the credits. It will reload you back to just before the Cerberus base.

EDIT: Oops. Sorry. Someone else already answered. :)
Ok so I should beat the "vanilla" game first. Its just that someone else said I should wait until it comes out before beating it. Well at least I'll be able to compare the original ending with the expanded ending.

I'm trying to break down which characters might be featured that I really don't care about.

So far I have Miranda, Kaiden, Jacob.

Actually that's pretty much it.

The Extended Cut adds no new gameplay. It is comprised entirely of cutscenes stapled on to the end of the game. It also doesn't change any of the awfulness that was already there.
