I'll consider it a victory when they parade Casey Hudson through London with a line of people kicking him as he walks past.

Until then, I honestly stopped caring.

It's only my opinion but BioWare were a decent developer at one point. This past year or so they have slid wayyy down in my eyes.

I didn't like a lot of what they did with ME3 or how it was handled PR wise. I didn't like hardly anything about SW:TOR or how that was handled. I really didn't like DA2 and the joke that surrounded it (BioWare employees making accounts on Metacritic and then getting called out on it, hilarious).

So I came to the sad conclusion that, for me, BioWare will probably never make a game i'm happy with again. So I sold back my copy of ME3 to where I got it from and scrapped any thoughts I had about buying DA3.

There is a time for complaining, we tried that and it isn't working, so now i'm speaking with my cash. BioWare is getting no more of mine.

Oh for God's sake, we don't even know much about what Bioware are going to do with this free DLC, which as far as we know, adds something or changes another thing. Notice the word free. We can complain after the DLC is released but hopefully we won't have to.

I'm very faithful to the indoctrination theory, and following the theory, the game ending was decent, not excellent, not great, but decent. My whole problem, is how poorly written and how poorly executed it was.And the whole game felt cut to make way for the multiplayer, albeit good multiplayer. But still, 6 side missions, 6 FUCKING SIDE MISSIONS?! I mean, if you wanted to shoot something and not continue the story in Mass Effect 1, you could fire up the Mako and raid one of the endless mercanary or pirate bases.Mass effect 2 had similar ideas, albeit less missions, and planet scanning instead of Mako driving. Also, while on the subject of the mako, I found it very easy to drive, and it was very fun to drive, and I was on PC.probably because of my expertise in racing games.anyway, I will probably be getting the DLC just to see what bioware shat out, if its good or even excellent, I will keep it, although it sounds to happy, though rebuilding of mass relays will be inevitable with all that free reaper shit lying around. If the DLC sucks, I'm removing it and sticking with the Indoctrination theory.

I cease to give care, as should everyone else at this point. Although the mental image of someone waking up in the morning with bloodshot eyes and immediately sacrificing thirteen effigies of Casey Hudson daily is admittedly quite amusing.

Oh, the tears. I love them so!

I'm so glad that Bioware basically told the "indoctrination ending" to kiss off, and all the pompous windbags who thought that by playing a franchise that they somehow knew it better then the creators to kiss off.

I hope this delicious kick in the teeth reminds all of you that you're fans of an interactive medium, not creators of it, and no matter how interactive the medium is, you're still just an end user.

I hope they go into great detail, fix all the plot holes, and then give you the same three choices you hated before, so that no matter how epic the ending, how epic the scope of the game, and how justified the ending you, that I can still listen to you guys whine and cry.
I have never agreed with anybody so much as I do now.
I salute you, sir.

Nah, it is entirely possible they could do something like you suggested, give option refuse but end up having to choose one of the endings anyway, because otherwise the reapers would have won. Or something of the sort. They would not alter the endings themselves then. Honestly, the PR stuff for the EC is so vague, they could be cooking up a variety of things. I really hope more people would take a "wait and see" approach instead of condemning it outright. Bioware is trying people. :/
They want to keep their lives. There's a reason they didn't make an April fools statement on an Orange Ending DLC or W/E [That was actually the response On Twitter:
[Some EA Guy]: We've got no idea what to do for April Fools :/
[Some fan]: Say you're releasing a purple ending DLC
[Some EA Guy]: I want to keep my life thank you
]
Giving us the option to not use the Crucible, but then forcing us to use the Crucible anyway is a pointless gesture and would invoke more rage. And besides, there is no problem with the Reapers winning - we were promised a Reaper win ending, but we were never given one [A Bioware employee himself {Not speaking on behalf of Bioware} stated he didn't think the 'Critical Mission Failure' screen at the Crucible counted as a Reapers win ending].

And whilst the PR stuff is vague, there are some things it rules out of the question. A new or changed ending is out of the question. Of course, they lied with some of their pre-release promises for the games, so why not on this too?

Yeah, not a victory at all in my opinion. The ending made no sense, extending it isn't going to change that at all. Unfortunately, now that they've decided to do this it's going to make the people asking for a better ending seem unappeasable if they continue to complain, so this is likely what we're stuck with.

It's a shame, especially since there was a perfectly functional ending in the pre-leaked story spoilers, which is presumably what prompted them to change it to this in the first place. There's even some foreshadowing of this original ending in the games, unlike the total ass-pull one we ended up with. I would pay Bioware lots of money if they released that first one as DLC, and they'd regain a lot of my respect.

Your complaining doesn't count until we've actually seen what the hell is going to be in the DLC. For whatever we know they might put those things in, since as you've said there basically finished. The only things that have been said about the DLC is that they are adding new cinematics to the ending, they haven't said where they will be placed. Extended cut doesn't always mean an epilogue, it can mean that there is a few more scenes added in the game to justify the plot holes in the ending.

Sums up why I can't side with EAWare in this.

That said, I don't like their fans either. They deserve each other.

Except... Aren't they trying to fix that with this? Because it sure sounds like they are to me...

Also, you really don't speak for all the fans out there, sad to say. Just like that one guy who filed the FTC complaint does not. Many do want Bioware to go back and make a completely different ending.
They're attempting to add clarity to the existing ending...which is only partially what folks were asking for. Closure was sort of the "at the very least" option, since the original ending lacked anything resembling it.

The endings themselves made no sense (as has been reiterated and expounded upon ad nauseam) and, therefore, should have been adjusted so as to, well, make some. I'm reserving judgment on the extended DLC itself, but it's still not what the prevailing opinion of fans was leaning toward.

I'm aware that I don't speak for everyone. I didn't really claim to. Merely trying to dispel some misconceptions about the overarching goals of the folks that are still up in arms over this.

Hurrah! Another thread about DLC that has not been released yet!

For all we know Bioware are bluffing us and this DLC might turn out to be epic.

This... I...

That's from one of the greatest film ever made (If not the greatest film), made over 20 years before the crap that was Star Wars. Orson Welles wants his mustache back is more like it.

Bioware/EA were stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Honestly I don't really know if this will even accomplish anything. On one hand, the ending is outright broken, and clarification will NOT fix it.

On the other hand, there are other people (gaming press) who are saying the ending SHOULDN'T change due to artistic integrity.

Honestly, this is a situation that Bioware/EA couldn't escape unscathed. Either changing, fixing or leaving the ending as it is would cause complaints.
