I love Mass Effect, but if it turns out to be Origin exclusive on PC, it can burn in hell for all I care.
My understanding is that only the digital deluxe edition will be Origin exclusive, but i'm in the same boat as you.
Um, the console player is lost here, what is this Origin thing people keep going on about?

My enthusiasm for ME3 relies entirely on whether it's on origin or not.
For perspective I absolutely love NFS it's possibly my favourite franchise of all time, but when I found out the run is origin only for PC I passed.

ME obsessive, having wet dreams.
I basically fall into the same boat but I'm having doubts as to whether it'll be good or not. I still have the CE preordered and that won't change. I'm excited about the fact that I can play a Psycho Krogan in Co-op. Trying not to get TOO hyped about that because then when it falls short of my ridiculous imagination I'll be disappointed. Staying hopeful and skeptical overall.

Its the penance EA has imposed for those of us who get to play ME1.
Essentially since we get to see the content of ME1 they get to see the content of our PC.

Being a diehard Bioware and especially Mass Effect fan I find myself scared that I'm not too hyped for ME3 at the moment. Don't get me wrong I know I will get Collector's Edition and play it day 1 but I just am not feeling the excitement yet. Although chances are that is probably because all hype for me at the moment is focused on the Old Republic.

Although part of my fear stems from the trailers and game play so far which have been all action, combat, and turret game play. Nothing has been shown for the characters, the story, the drama. Basically all the things that have separated it amongst the bland sci-fi shooters these days. I'd hate to see the 3rd game ruin the series by trying to conform to the standards most other shooters run on.

CAN NOT WAIT! Mass effect is my favourite game series to date, definitely getting the most expensive mad collector's edition of it I possibly can and am going to love every minute of it. Trying to avoid all information on it till then to preserve the ultra specialness.

I'm kind of nervous about it. The Mass Effect franchise has been one of my favorites so far, but from what I read from the leaks, I'm not liking what I'm seeing. Maybe they'll fix a few things before release or push the release date. Anything to make what I've seen go away. I love the series for its story. I don't want it fucked up and if it takes more time to fix it, I'll be okay.

Other than that, combat looks pretty nice.

Got that sucker pre-ordered.

I managed to enjoy ME1 and absolutely loved ME2, so ME3 seems like a safe bet. I've kept up with the development and everything I've seen has been pleasing.

This will be the first time I've ever pre-ordered a collector's edition of a game. In fact it may be the first time I've pre-ordered a game period...I have a bad memory so...yeah.

Whenever I think about it I damn near vibrate with anticipation, but I'm trying to remain cool cause I know that Mass Effect 3 is very likely to go one of two ways. Either it will be epic and awesome with a few fuck-ups like all games have but will still reign King for years and people who aren't into the series will hate ME lovers for decades to come......or.....they'll totally fuck it up because they tried WAY to hard to please everybody and people with storm Bioware's doors demanding a remake. The 70 bucks I paid for the game is resting on the former.

Should be fun. The class system in ME kind of blows, so i'll probably only rent it and beat it once though.

I'm interested in checking out the coop too.

I'm eager to play Mass Effect 3, if only to finally get closure with beloved characters and this story so that I can move on with my life and find some new thing to be obsessed with. Like for example my university studies which will start in 2012.
I read the leaked script and I have to say I am not thrilled with what the story seems to be implying, some of it's good, some of it really upsets me personally and some of it is just plain dumb in my opinion but frankly by this point I just want to see Mass Effect end in a way that's satisfying to me.
The simple things required for that are:
1. A halfway decent ending.
2. The ability to romance Ashley (been waiting two years for resolution on that part)
3. The capability to keep enough of the characters I like alive.

From reading the script I can see that at least partially I will be getting that, even though it isn't in exactly the way I want it. From the looks of it, I can still romance Ashley (though the way the story handles her isn't exactly going to earn her many favors from the fanbase, but screw them I'll still get MY ideal ending... if I work for it), there is at least one option to get the perfect ending and I can keep enough characters that I like alive if I work at it.

So yeah, it looks like it's going to be a challenge on all three fronts but hey, I've waited this long and I'm ready to work at the conclusion. I'm not really fussed about gameplay or multiplayer or graphics or any other stuff. Just those three things and if I can have them (even if they are something I have to work at like I said) that will be good enough for me.

I'm very hyped for Mass Effect 3, but that hype is one part anxiety and two parts hopeful for the future. It's almost over now, soon this series will be behind me and the day is coming where I'll be able to wake up and NOT have to check the BSN for any news or updates on any of the characters I like.
And that day will be glorious!

My view is a very negative one that glares upon the Gears-of-War style cover-based shooting that I wasn't very fond of in Mass Effect 2, the Omni-Tool knife blade shit that they stole from Assassin's Creed for no reason other than expanded appeal--and come on, an omni-tool blade? A damn light-based screen interface somehow gutting armored space aliens? Give me a break, or better yet, give me an incentive not to pre-judge Mass Effect 3 as an effort to leap straight into the action genre, leaving any sense of space exploration and adventure on the doorstep while we leap into the mile-long road littered with chest-high roadblocks and other miscellaneous objects for us to take cover behind while we spray neon bullets at enemies.

Blah blah etcetera, I might get it, I might not, but in no way am I excited about it--at least, not as excited as I was about ME2...and that was a bit of a disappointment. A good game, simplified mechanics, but the cover based shooting was just...boring. Boring. You pop up and down like a fucking duck at a shooting gallery, take a few pot-shots and duck back down again before bouncing up jack-in-the-box style to do it some more. Mass Effect The First was tremendously more engaging with a variety of attack powers and techniques you could use on the fly, crouch behind cover if absolutely needed, then rush into combat, strafing, sprinting--it was a lot more interesting! AND IT WAS ACTUALLY CHALLENGING--NO REG; oh, sorry moderators. No regenerative health was absolutely golden! Why did they have to simplify it for the console middle-class!? Keep making complex games and maybe they'll get smarter, rather than making dull non-thinking games and keep the IQ down! Troll-ololol!

So pysched. Though my computer won't be able to run this one, and you'll probably need to have Origin stealing all your personal information and selling it, as well as some other stacks of DRM sure to be in there.

I do, however, admire the hilariously bad pun "collectors" edition.

If it was merely Mass Effect 2, but with more dialogue and storyline, it would be awesome. But it seems to have a beefed combat system, which was always a reasonable drag in 2. Now I'm replaying 2 on pyschotic mode, getting stuck trying to bust Jack and kill the heavy mech.
Aaah, good times.

My hype is more focused on The Old Republic right now, but I still most definitely have the Mass Effect 3 Collectors Edition pre-ordered for Xbox 360. Actually, since the moment it was announced..

So currently, while I wait for the Old Republic to launch (early access ^^), I am replaying both ME and ME2 on both gendered Shepards, one Paragon-leaning and one Renegade-leaning to refine for March.

..Well, replaying ME twice, that is. Getting my characters to level 60 before I cross over, just to ensure I get the most bang in terms of resources and credits for my time and effort to start of ME2.

Still on the fence about this one. After dragon age 2, I... *Chills*

I enjoyed the first one, considering I got lost multiple times in the citadel.

I also enjoyed the sequel much more. I loved Mordin and Thane, truely great characters. But, the combat felt too repetitive and the random planets felt too samey.

Eh, might buy it when the price drops a bit. Who knows, I might even buy it for Xbox for the Kinect integration.

Will play it as I've played the other two.

Buy it? Nah, I'll let my friend do that and then borrow it :)

Okay, leaving aside the rest of your rather noxious post, this point jumps out at me.

Consider for a moment the various things we have already seen omni-tools used for:
- Flamethrower
- Freeze ray
- Scanner of damn near everything
- Interface for damn near everything
- Medi-gel applicator
- Image projector
- Drone deployer
- Shield overloader
- Shield recharger
- Mech hacking device
- Melee weapon
- Probably a bunch more things I've forgotten.

And yet, I keep seeing people getting upset at the idea of someone sticking a pointy bit on top. This confuses me. I am forced to conclude that these people are just searching for something, anything, to complain about.
