My view is a very negative one that glares upon the Gears-of-War style cover-based shooting that I wasn't very fond of in Mass Effect 2, the Omni-Tool knife blade shit that they stole from Assassin's Creed for no reason other than expanded appeal--and come on, an omni-tool blade? A damn light-based screen interface somehow gutting armored space aliens? Give me a break, or better yet, give me an incentive not to pre-judge Mass Effect 3 as an effort to leap straight into the action genre, leaving any sense of space exploration and adventure on the doorstep while we leap into the mile-long road littered with chest-high roadblocks and other miscellaneous objects for us to take cover behind while we spray neon bullets at enemies.
Blah blah etcetera, I might get it, I might not, but in no way am I excited about it--at least, not as excited as I was about ME2...and that was a bit of a disappointment. A good game, simplified mechanics, but the cover based shooting was just...boring. Boring. You pop up and down like a fucking duck at a shooting gallery, take a few pot-shots and duck back down again before bouncing up jack-in-the-box style to do it some more. Mass Effect The First was tremendously more engaging with a variety of attack powers and techniques you could use on the fly, crouch behind cover if absolutely needed, then rush into combat, strafing, sprinting--it was a lot more interesting! AND IT WAS ACTUALLY CHALLENGING--NO REG; oh, sorry moderators. No regenerative health was absolutely golden! Why did they have to simplify it for the console middle-class!? Keep making complex games and maybe they'll get smarter, rather than making dull non-thinking games and keep the IQ down! Troll-ololol!
