I don't know about Mass Effect, but I'll recommend Bioshock anytime.

Im pretty sure no one has played the game, since it doesn't come out till November 3rd, give or take a day or two.

I don't think it's out until November. But I cannot wait, it's been pre-ordered. I definitely think it will be worth it.
He's not talking about the sequels, he's talking about the originals.
OT: Not sure about Mass Effect, but Bioshock was pretty good, and you should get it if you have an Xbox and see it for a low price.

I didn't Bioshock that much as people say. Mass Effect is pretty awesome, except for the random bugs.

I know. He changed the thread. He was originally asking about Dragon Age: Origins.

While I can't speak for Mass Effect, I positively adored Bioshock. It's atmosphere and gameplay were quite fun, and I found myself going around for out of the way things (like the audio tapes), purely to hear more about the people who were in Rapture prior.

The plasmids were pretty amusing too. Although hacking got really boring really quickly, not going to lie there.

I say it varies on what you like in a game.

Go for Bioshock if you like a solid shooter and an interesting premise.

Go for Mass Effect if you want one of the best stories ever to grace a game, and a beautifully realised universe, filled with diverse aliens/people.

Mass Effect is great, but it is fairly short and kind of bland in terms of side quests. I'd give it an 8/10, and I haven't played Bioshock, though I will sometime soon.

I loved (and still love, I'm on my 9th playthrough :D) Mass Effect. I'd recommend that immediately if you're not bothered by a lot of story. Bioshock... I found to be meh. It's good in the first half, but it sort of peeters out in the middle. I haven't finished it because of that.

I never got around to finish Bioshock, but Mass Effect is a definite buy if you like RPGs and third person shooters, Gears of War in particular.

Both are very good games, and unlike what a lot of people will tell you neither of them are 'rent-4-week' games, they've both got replay value. Mass effect controls, like a jerky staffy on the end of a short leash, but it is very satisfying, imersive, and similar to games like gun, once you get used to it's flaws you become very deadly in combat. BIoshock, starts a bit scary, spooky, and slightly disturbing. Soon you get a decnt arsenal and you your self become a force to be feared. Combat is vary nice, and the story is a lot of fun to follow.

(I miss Atlas)

I was in the same situation about a year ago and went with yes.

Mass Effect I did not regret although I know a lot of people are not as forgiving with it's flaws as I am.

Bioshock I ordered from an Internet site but sadly never received :( Hopefully I'll get around playing it some day in the future.

After that it's only Fallout and GTAIV left.

Yes they are both as good as people made them out to be. Buy them both and play the ever living crap out of them.

O, ok. In that case, I don't really have too much to add. If it costs $60 or so when it comes out, however, my suggestion is to wait until it's price goes down.

Bioshock is stark, atmospheric, intelligent, and unforgettable: yet it falls flat on its ass in terms of inducing horror and will give you migraines after ten minutes.

It all comes down to whether or not you think beating an eight-foot tall diver to death with a wrench and then sticking a needle in a little girl is worth the headache (Hint: it is).

In my opinion, Mass Effect is way overrated. It's meh and it doesn't libe up to all the hype. But then again, maybe it is just me who "don't get it".

BioShock I loved. One of the best FPSs ever made. Seriously.

Mass Effect. It's a better game than Bioshock. Although Bioshock is good, if you've played System Shock 2, you're in for a disappointment.
