I heard he also read the Bible. Probably all the misogyny and violence in there caused him to kill children. The Bible, unlike Mass Effect, condones this act.
Don't forget, God himself has killed children, think of Sodom, an entire city filled with men, women, and children, that God destroyed, also think of all the first born of Egypt that God caused to die. God has killed more children than all the school shootings combined, according to the Bible at least.

I love to savor delicious irony. You call out the people who bash video games while bashing the people who like Lady Gaga. I am no fan of Lady Gaga, but I do have the good sense not to denigrate someone as a person because they do.
You have the "Good sense", are you implying that you are in some way a better person than me? If you are then your attitude reeks all the way to Finland :) I DIDN'T bash the individual people for listening Lady Gaga, I just portrayed my opinion of the whole thing. Come on, let's drop the pretense here. Do you really think that the stuff she does is of quality because I certainly don't. The music (if you can call it that) is so bland that my brain will stop functioning if I'm subjected to if for more than a minute. As I read my line over again, there's no trace of attacking individual persons head on, there's just a snarky comment what I think about them. I don't know if some of them can be very intelligent, they just happen to enjoy that kind of "pop music". It takes nothing away from me and so be it then. I just loathe the phenomena of quick cash schemes that sacrifice any integrity for truly melodic and meaningful music. I don't hate all pop music, just the one which has been hastily made and has no traces of originality in it and can even be mistaken for some other artist's song! Now have a good day and don't try to drag me onto the town square to be flogged as I just won't comply.

Captcha says: kitten mittens o_O That's unreasonably cruel towards cats :(

We can be, yes. We aren't barbaric though... at least those of us who aren't hooked up on alcohol and violence towards our fellow men and women. I'd like to think that I'm at least somewhat sentient and intelligent enough to form my own opinions without peer pressure and maybe that's why I don't belong to many communities in real life or on the net either. Maybe other people experience me as an uncommon finnish person, I'm not sure about that but if oftentimes feels that way. Talking about communities though, I'm on Facebook and Escapist forum (That may be too obvious to mention but worth a shot anyway :)) and I belong to the Skyrim mods community too. I don't intend to represent finnish people in a bad manner. All the things I write are usually my own opinions and may not be applicable to a big part of finnish people.
Some people have said that the finns can be a little cold towards others and some people have described us a friendly beings. I try my best to belong to the latter group but sometimes I take things a bit too personally. That is a flaw in my personality and I totally admit it since there's no need for self betrayal.
Well, I don't really have anything else to say at the moment. I really do hope I didn't offend anyone, it's just that I easily get carried away when writing about some topics which I feel strongly about.
Have a nice day, a good time gaming and keep it civil in multiplayer (That's a thing I'm promoting, multiplayer friendliness :))

Oh Jesus.
I-I just... agh.
How in the flying FUCK did they come to *this* conclusion? Because the shooter *liked* it?
I hate people sometimes. I really really do.

Lets not focus on the gun control laws or the lack of mental health support, lets blame a thing he liked on facebook (Despite the fact its the wrong person) Oh look he likes to read! READING IS WHAT LED TO THE SHOOTING. The lack of logic here is overwhelming.

Now the Westboro Baptist church have jumped on the bandwagon and are blaming gay rights as the reason God allowed Sandy Hook to happen. It's this level of ignorance that damages others while avoiding the real issues that need to be dealt with.

Once again, Human beings are so scared to admit that someone fucked on their own they have to point to to a piece of fiction for the cause of the disaster. Fiction, no matter how grounded it is in reality, is not real, fake, imaginary, it doesn't exist. It's like if a mom killed her kid, while he was sleeping, at night, and she blamed the boogie man for killing him.

Mass Effect is being used as a scapegoat. Games have the scapegoat of society for a long time because people want something to blame rather than trying to fix the problem themselves. Movies were the scapegoat and before that it was rock music. this blame on videogames is nothing new.

Why have people always got to find a fucking thing to blame?
Why not have a little fucking respect for the family of people who died without having a massive rage boner against something you dislike?
I don't even give a shit that it's a video game being blamed, I just fucking hate these people going around acting like massive cunts.
It's fucking retarded I know but that's just the way people are. They need something to blame, some external force must be the cause for all of the horror and pain. Otherwise it would be the fault of a person, and no one wants to believe that a person could be responsible for such a horrific and evil act because that would mean anyone is capable of something like that, and that thought is just too scary to even contemplate for them. So they externalise, project all of the sadness, disgust, and pain onto something that they can loath and blame. Doesn't matter if it makes no sense, it's a coping mechanism. It replaces rational thought. You can even sit them down and show them how this couldn't be the fault of a game, how the core of the game is about saving the galaxy, building alliances, making friends and not murdering people on a whim and 90% of them would still blame the game because they have made up there minds about it. People truly only see and believe what they want to see and believe.

I actually feel a bit bad for Bioware (I know it surprised me too) it must be horrible to have something you worked so hard over being wrongly blamed and hated for something it had nothing to do with.

Jesus Christ these people are idiots! I bet if he had linked to the Facebook page for one of the SAW movies(which are way worse than Mass Effect) no-one would have batted an eye.

You know I was recently wondering to myself why I haven't been on Facebook in such a long time.

Then I saw this post and suddenly I remembered why.

Geez, I knew the endings were bad, but this bad?

Corny jokes aside, it's starting to get a common thing.
"Hey, there's been some shooting in a school"
"OMG that's tragic. What did the killer liked?"
"That's a strangely specific question, but ok. He liked corn dogs"
"huhu"
"Watching TV"
"Huhu"
"Sleeping in the afternoon"
"Huhu"
"Oh, and I think he played Mass Effect once"
"BAN THAT SICK FILTH, CONTAMINATING THE MINDS OF OUR CHILDREN. PURGE IT NOW!"

The human nature is to seek things to blame, and it has become clear that videogames are the new punching bag around.

This is easy!
Let me have a try:
He liked burgers.
He killed a bunch of people...
Therefore, burgers turn people into deranged bloodthirsty lunatics!
Bam! Can I be a pundit now, or something?

Did the shooter use biotics or something?

How is him liking Mass Effect relevant at all?
Because as everyone knows, VIDEO GAMES ARE EVIL! Because people like to blame things they have no clue about, as opposed to anything fucking real.
Yeah, I play a game about a spaceman fighting killer robots, therefore I want to kill children, that's **** logic for you...

My point exactly. As far as video games go Mass Effect is one of the cleanest games out there. When did they ever kill anyone child like in that entire game? In fact, Shepard was haunted by a child dying in Mass Effect 3 to the point of psychosis.

If anything this promoted saving children, wtf is wrong with people? They don't research, they just let their emotions take over and jump on the band wagon... idiots.

Apparently the Daily Express (in the UK) tried to blame Dynasty Warriors for the massacre.
Anyone who's played Dynasty Warriors will know just how ridiculous that is, and how it effectively makes the media become a parody of itself.

Even if the right person did like Mass Effect and enjoyed playing Mass Effect, it's one of the most popular landmark games of this generation. Isn't this the equivalent of saying listening to Maxwell's Silver Hammer means that motivated murder. Of course you heard that song it's the Beatles, of course you played that game IT'S MASS EFFECT.

You can't just blame a random piece of popular culture someone may have observed. Makes no sense.
