It IS monumentally stupid but it is also human nature.
Human nature is what we make of it. We don't have to be this stupid. It is just easy to be this stupid.

This just in, CT shooter ate food and breathed air. Other people who do these things are now being investigated for aggressive tendencies.

I feel bad that the game is getting beat on, but I would also consider empathy.

Not condoning the act of video games as hysteria bait...just, well, take a second and consider both sides.

Then realize there are still twits who use the death of children to push bans on video games.

You think that's bad?
http://www.inquisitr.com/440355/westboro-baptist-church-to-picket-sandy-hook-elementary-praise-god-for-shooting/

Apparently, Gay marriage killed two dozen kids.

I know, right?

Ah, I think I finally found an answer to this thread http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.393456-Where-are-all-these-stupid-people-that-supposedly-exist

Right there folks. But remember, they're just having a knee-jerk reaction to blow off their steam on something. Some of those people may be mad with sorrow and they're just looking for a scapegoat. This'll all blow over in a few weeks.

No it's not. People with less than no expertise on the subject are saying dumb things as usual to try to compress emotions and give meaning to a senseless act. Facebook posts do not equal "serious evidence" and you should feel bad for thinking they do.

God dammit- this again?
Seriously though, couldn't they at least pick another more realistic game to scapegoat if they had to blame a game? Mass Effect is set in a science fiction universe for God's sake- a universe where there's barely any children for that matter.
Except that one kid, THAT EVERYONE SHOT AT THE END OF MASS EFFECT 3!!!!

*sorry*
Really?
I'm playing Mass Effect 3 at the moment, and if you're being serious, that's kinda shocking.
Kind of destroys what I was trying to say before too I guess- maybe I should finish the game before I talk about it next time.
Fuck, sorry, I should have put up a spoiler warning. I made the same arrogant assumption people who put up the sovereign conversation in a thread on people's favourite video game speechs (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.152733-Your-favorite-video-game-speech?page=2) which many people did, because its such an awesome exchange. I then saw someone say that the Sovereign conversation was one the greatest plot twists they had ever experienced, but I will never know what that's like because I had already seen it *sniff*

As for the kid, its not a flesh and blood kid, don't worry. I don't want to spoil anything more, so I won't say anything more.
Nah, I barely consider it a spoiler.
It's really out of context and all- I don't really know the circumstances surrounding this kid, so don't feel bad about it.

Mass Effect? Really? No, I just don't see it. There is nothing about that shooting that screams 'Mass Effect' to me. What do you have to say to that, evil interpretation of Shepard's character?

Evil Shepard: I didn't kill any kids OR blow my brains out. Those people are morons. I'm just an iconic figure of science fiction.

There you have it. There is nothing decidedly 'Massy' or 'Effecty' about this or 'main charactery' about it either.

EDIT: Okay, I'm looking into the 'stupid thread' now. Thanks for putting it up. Looks funny.

You know guys...I hear...right...I heard...he liked McDonald's too. It's obvious McDonald's is evil and satanic and motivated him to murder those children.

I'm sorry for the generalisation but get your shit together america.

To all of the imbeciles who, in their sleazy media fueled hysteria, jumped to the wrong conclusion on multiple levels and made dicks out of themselves in the process, I would like to thank you for proving without a shadow of a doubt that "sanity" is a very subjective term and that there are clearly, as your aggressive mob like behaviour demonstrates, many more Adam Lanzas hidden amongst us. Rationality, Logic and Reason are not the strong suits of most if not all of the people that posted on that page villifying a completely innocent game and its creators and then, in the face of being proven 100% wrong had the audacity to keep on with the facade and thus inflict more self humiliation. Darwin is rolling in his grave because of you.

Have a nice day.

Yeah... Mass Effect condones the death of children. You know, the same game where the main character spends the entire time wracked with guilt that he failed to save a child's life.

I cannot comprehend the blind stupidity of some people.

EDIT: Just read that article about Westboro saying they will "Sing praises to God" for "executing his judgement" on the children at the school. This is genuinely scary. It's not that big of a leap to go from saying you support massacring children in the name of god and going out and doing it yourself. I can't help feeling Westboro are only one over-zealous lunatic away from terrorism.

Silly cries from people with a 20th century mindset. The world has changed and they failed to notice.

Also, it's the U.S., the guns and paranoia capitol of the world.

This is the first thing that comes to my mind whenever stuff like this happens.

Bioware being Canadian makes this even funnier.
