Mass Effect Character Creation

Hey guys, I just brought Mass Effect (I know, late to the party) and I have some questions on character creation (hence the title ). Now, the type of character I like to play in these sorts of games is a stealth character that slowly picks off the enemies one by one (either from the distance or sneaking up and taking them out from behind). Now normally, I would have just play as the standard model, but reading the manual shows that Shepard cannot use sniper rifles.

So I have two questions, the first is, is this true or can Shepard actually use snipers?

And two, what would be the best base class out of the six available to choose as a stealth character?

From memory I think the infiltrator class? And Shephard CAN use snipers.

Soilders can use all types of weapons, so yes, Defult shepard can use a sniper rifle. But the class that your looking for is the infultrator. Its basicly a hacker sniper class.

Yep, Infiltrator is the way for you! Never played that class myself, was kinda afraid i wouldn't be able to use a sniper rifle to the fullest, there were lots of smaller combat areas. But after finishing the game, i realized you could play an infiltrator damn well !
The only negative side of the Infiltrator is that you get no cool Force powers. I think.
