Aria was going to be my suggestion. One of the first things she says to you in ME 3 is that she understands the galaxy is in deep shit, "It won't matter WHERE I'm sitting if you don't defeat the Reapers." That said, I don't think it'd be too far of a stretch for her to cut a deal, agreeing to work with you (as a Vanguard class) in exchange for you helping her retake Omega.

That said, I'm still holding out hope that they come out with a Retake Omega DLC. :3
Well, this.

Omega DLC has been confirmed. Whether its going to have Aria as a temporary squadmate (how can it NOT!?) is still under wraps though. Like I say though, it'd be insane for them not to. I mean, there are enough Asari power sets in the multiplayer now for them to lazily cut and paste, so here's hoping.

I'd like Keepard as a squadmate. He could use his mind-melting powers to kill enemies.
Well I didn't need to sleep ever again so thanks for that video.

Any Krogan in ME3... the squad just wasn't the same without Grunt or Wrex trying to solve every problem by eating it.
I heard a number of reasons why we couldnt have a Krogan teammate in ME3. \

I call them all bullshit. I felt naked without a Krogan on my squad.

Nihlas, the first turian you meet at the beginning of the first game. I figured the turian youre with on the back of the box was this bad ass looking mofo. Instead we got garrus...Im still so pissed about that

You may have called Blasto the Hanar Spectre. But I vote for BUBIN, straight-laced by-the-book Elcor cop with decades on the beat and a very lovely sister!
I vote for all three of them. And all three are romance options. Yes, all three. In the same time.

Alright, on a more serious note, I'm kinda fine with what we got, there's no one I'd really toss out for someone else (besides for Blasto, obviously). The only complaint is that you can officially have Legion for such a short time. Damn it, I want him for the whole game, I'd take him everywhere, why did you change that?

I really... really.... REALLY wanted Blasto on my squad.

As a side note, since first hearing about him in ME1 I always imagined he'd have an Elcor sidekick, then seeing that poster in ME3, my god, it was like ultimate fan service to me.

I would have liked to have seen a Vorcha on my squad too.

I'm the only one to suggest Conrad Verner? I'm ashamed folks, he should have been suggestion number one. (Even though he has a nice end to his arc, especially for folks who finished every mission in ME1)

Giana Parasini would've made an interesting choice, if not for a squadmate then at least a Love interest.

As for an actual suggestion, I'd give my kidney and the kidneys of several others for a Batarian squadmate. Or a Turian female squadmate.

that guy Baily the one from C-sec...as far as humans go

if the stoey was radically different Kei Leng could have been one of those "token bad" squadmates...not sure it would have made people hate him less

Captain Enyala, of course.

Oh, why did she have to die. She was such an epic *****. :(

See, even Jack agrees with me.

I'd to start by seconding all the votes for Kirrahe, Reeghar, and most of all, ME3 Wrex.

I can't really think of anyone else other then maybe Baily. He's pretty cool, I guess.

Approval for Kirrahe, Aria, and Reeghar from me.

Also, Shiala (Uber-Zen Asari Commando? Yes please!) and Balak. I've seen plenty of requests for a Batarian, but it would have to be Balak specifically for me. I can just imagine him and my Vanguard Shep at each-others throats the whole game over who's race has been more of a dick to the other, and then at the ending, when you're saying your goodbyes at the FOB in London, he says to you...

"Shepard... I just thought you should know. I may detest your kind, and I may be bound by the pride and glory in my blood to keep fighting you if we both survive this day. However, the Reapers do not care for our wars, and I am unable to deny your skill as a warrior. You may be Human, but on this day, you are my brother."

It's one thing to hear people who always loved you gush about how much of a hero you are, but to me, earning the respect of someone who previously showed nothing but disdain or dislike towards you, even if the delivery of it may be stubborn and lukewarm, carries so much more weight. It was for this reason that for me, in the actual game, the most touching goodbye was between Shepard and Javik, followed closely by EDI (ok they never actually disliked each-other, but until the third game they never really had any one on one connection, so to hear "but only now do I feel alive. That is your influence" at the end caused a sizable lump in my throat).

Gonna echo a few of the suggestions from above - Kal'Reegar and Kirrahe would have been awesome.

Aria would also have been awesome too, though I don't really think it would ever have made sense in a story context (ie: how would it make sense to have Aria following Shepard all over the galaxy taking orders from him/her?). I guess it could work specifically for the Omega DLC though.

Kolyat could have been interesting, though it would raise the issue of whether running around the galaxy shooting people is really the life Thane wanted for his son...

Why should she join us on the mission when she can just have us do all her dirty work? Isn't this what she has been preaching since ME2?

She does have you doing her dirty work. She gives you information and then afterwords asks a favor of you. If anything it was a "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" type of arrangement. Just like the one in ME 3, get her the mercs and she'll get them to fight for you.
