Gah... just played through the end of such an amazing game, the most enthralling story I've seen since Tales of Symphonia, and the most satisfying boss fight i've had in probably the last 3 years, and...

It forces me back to just before the final fight Y.Y

I had honestly been hoping for an option to go back and maybe finish up whatever side quests i had left, so this was a rather large letdown. =(

I realize this topic may have been done, but i need to vent mah frustrations. Anyone else feel the same way? =(

You can do New Game+ but yeah it would be nice to be able to go and do some missions that had been unattended to. I guess they figured it would be too damaging the the narrative of the game.

The side missions are nothing to write home about, you're not missing much.
It was a pleasure just hearing most of the characters speak personally. There wasn't a moment i hadn't enjoyed in the game upon retrospect, including some of the side missions i did ^^

...and that's why you NEVER move the plot forward in an RPG until you've exhausted EVERY last side quest you can find ;)

This should be one of the first commandments in the Gaming Bible.

You have to do that in Borderlands if you want to survive the next main story mission.

I was playing through it and cleaning out every quest on the first go, but since it was 2nd hand, there must have been damage or something because it refused to load the last boss fight :argh:

You can play through with your character again, with all the skills you've gathered, and fix everything you missed the last time. Raising the difficulty helps too. =)

The most interesting Mass Effect side missions are the ones that revolve around Cerberus and the main characters, more in terms of concept than gameplay variation, although there are a few nifty base infiltrations that I heartily recommend, provided you're cool with getting the shit blown out of you by geth turrets. =3

I have one piece of advice, save just before the final mission and before the conclusion of the romantic subplot. Because then you don't have to go to Illos. You can go back and do any unfinished missions, for me though it was always just about the main plot.

It didn't bug me because that's how I understood Bioware made their games. This happened with the two Knights of the Old Republic games, Jade Empire. Therefore, I just kept my eyes peeled for the 'point of no return' moment.
