So the Mass effect Operation Goliath challenge dropped two days ago, and I would just like some help for myself and others on how to be as effective as possible against the reapers on silver or above. Personally my friends and I play two turian sentinels with a human adept and a turian soldier. What do you guys play with? How do you adapt to not having the races or weapons suggested? This thread is for sharing tactics with each other

Ditch the Solider. Soldiers are worthless. Get another Biotic. Combo everywhere. You win.

You'll manage a lot better if you can get everyone to stick together. Running off on your own just gets you killed. Our usual party is a Human Engineer (because I haven't unlocked Quarian yet), an Asari Adept, a Human Soldier, and the fourth tends to flip between Engineer and Infiltrator.

Obviously, you want some levels under your belt for running Silver. Start on Bronze. Learn to work together. And when you move up to Silver, do not be afraid to use your items. A cobra missile can really wreck a Brute. Banshees are a pain on every level, so try to take them down quickly. And I cannot overstate how useful an Engineer is. The Combat Drone will distract just about anything. Overload will stun things and clear shields. Almost ever map has a spot where you can set up your team and the enemies will come to you to be destroyed. In general, mobility gets you killed. Stay in cover, pick your targets, and drop them fast. Only move around when you have to for data terminals and the like. Don't forget to move as a team when you do have to. Your team can burn through enemies a lot faster than you can solo. They can pick you up if you happen to go down. That is the #1 mistake I see when we've gone into PUGs is that people just run off on their own. Then usually yell at us for not rezing them when they die across the map. Stay together.

When you have a friend with a revenant and a clamore I think you'll sing a different tune.

Just get as many decent level Asari Vanguards in the game as possible... They're as close to overpowered as can be

Other than a team of fully leveled krogans, I've been in a lobby with three and it was just insane how many insta-kill power melees were happening

Well naturally, the Krogan are always gonna be amazing. Though my faith in their melee ownage was slightly dented when some guy in my game charged a Banshee and got instakilled within two seconds. Was fucking funny.

Though the conditions of the grab attacks are a little bit broken, you can be running away fairly well from a Banshee and get grabbed from stupid ranges just because the game decided "time to die!" five seconds ago

I'd like to get some sniper upgrades for my Infiltrator, level 14 and still on the very basic Mantis 1 with no mods... Don't worry I have the Spike Thrower gun thing instead! It sucks... and doesn't give you hitmarks when you shoot people so it feels wrong. No idea why

Yeah. I had major issues starting out because for the longest time I only unlocked different versions of the phaeston, which in my opinion is a useless gun for most of the classes I run(engineer, adept, and sentinel). Once I got my hands on an incisor things changed quite a bit. And then I got a shredder mod for my shotguns, makes taking care of those pesky guardians a lot easier when you can blow through their shields. But this is a thread about reapers so that tactic is kind of useless when if you get anywhere near a banshee you get stabbed. Krogans are a lot more useful if they have a revenant or a clamore or even a widow, allows them to massive damage at more than just point blank range

My expertise in killing is simply quite American
I play the very model of a scientist Salarian!

Mass Effect 3, Political Commentary and Gilbert and Sullivan.
What more do you want?
Which salarian do you run? Engineer or infiltrator?

Well from killing more than my share of Brutes this weekend I can definitely say biotic explosions > all when it comes to killing reapers. Asari Adepts alternating between Warp/Throw spam can do serious dmg to the armored units. Drells are great until the armor starts coming out simply because you can't set off your own Reave with Pull since it doesn't work on armored units so only use them specially against reapers if you have a biotic teammate who can set them off. If your going to go soldier I'd have to say roll Krogan and grab a weapon that staggers opponents leaving them vulnerable as you move in for the charge (Falcon grenade rifle imo). The Krogans Inferno grenades fully evolved can really do serious aoe dmg (even more so to armor).

The biggest thing people need to realize about Reapers as far as I'm concerned is that you can't just hold in one position in the later waves for stuff like extractions simply because they have too many Pushers to flush you out of cover. Kite them as a group, make a break for the extraction point in the last 30 secs and realize that killing a banshee now just means a new fresh one spawned elsewhere on those types of waves. You'll save yourself a lot of consumables and end up with just as much experience this way.

P.S. Heres a list of weak points for the special Units straight from a Bioware Rep in the MP forums

Banshee
- No weak points (aim for the belly, as it's fattest - most likely to hit it)

Brute
- Takes reduced damage in the right arm
- Takes greatly reduced damage in the claw
- Armour Plates absorb damage until breaking (best to aim for exposed flesh, probably base of the neck?)
- No other weak points

Geth Prime
- Currently has a head volume (but it's a bug)

Atlas
- Some types of weapons will do increased damage to the cockpit (this is a bug)
- Destroy any of the following to do a small damage spike (shoulder flanges, groin plate, knee plates)
So don't waste time trying to line up those head shots on reapers.

Unfortunately I must agree with this sentiment...having desperately tried to make it work for me, the assault rifles just don't do enough damage.

They done gone nerfed the Revenant. I've got a lvl 20 Turian soldier and even with marksmen the Revenant is nothing but an assist-granting machine.

Obviously this is too late to be responding specifically for "Operation Goliath" strats, but as far as Reaper in general, here's what me and my friends were doing all weekend:

Sniper Team: White.

Seriously, 4 Infiltrators, 1 Black Widow and 3 Widows...and a whole bunch of Reaper corpses all over the map.

One strat that people really need to start using is, for the love of god, STAY OUT OF THE EXTRACTION ZONE! You've got plenty of time to get there, but don't camp there. Otherwise you end up with 30 seconds left and all of a sudden there's 3 banshee's and 2 brutes sitting right on top of you. Instead, run to the OPPOSITE side of the map from the extraction zone, hold there for a while, then with about 20-30 seconds left on the countdown, pick a route and make a mad-dash for the extraction zone. This bit of misdirection is very handy in pulling the horde AWAY from the extraction zone, and there's always more than one route to take to the extraction zone, normally one of those routes should be wide open.

But yeah, as far as ME 3 multiplayer strats in general: get 4 Infiltrators all with some kind of Widow. You shouldn't have any problems at all. :p

Seriously, we were mowing down the brutes like they were made of paper mache. :3

Oh, and by the way, the Geth are officially the hardest force to fight now. Seriously, check the patch notes on the most recent update. They basically turned the Hunters into ultra-pissed off, super-agressive, absolutely merciless killing machines. No longer do they just kinda wander on up to you and say "Boo!" Now they're sprinting across the battlefield and their shotguns are magnetically attracted to your face. Oh, and they nerfed the crap out of the Sabotage hacking. :p

Turian soldier with marksman can mow stuff down pretty good
Krogan soldier can charge through all kinds of hell to get a downed teammate back up, and a well timed charge can dead-stop a brute going for one of your squishier teammates.

I've played human soldier and found them to be kinda so-so. They get the combat rolls and stuff, but lack of marksman and krogan rage death charge just doesn't do it for me.

Biotics working in tandem to set off biotic explosions works great. I've found having an infiltrator around for high end single target damage.
