I've had a few people tell me that Mass Effect is better on the PC than it is on the Console. Due to a lack of time, I was unable to discuss why. So, what say you gamers!? Is Mass Effect better on the PC or on a Console and why?

Well I haven't played the second one on both systems, but in the first one on the PC the load times are faster, texture pop up is vastly diminished, and hey you get to use the mouse to aim, which is way preferable to me even with mild auto aim helping on both systems, just being able to whip around quickly then do fine point aiming with the greatest of ease is wonderful. Also if you have a beefy enough PC you can get better framerates than the xbox version.

I played Mass Effect 1 on my PC and am currently playing ME2 on my PC as well. Why? I prefer playing single-player games on my PC, and I really prefer playing shooters on my PC. However, I haven't heard anything to suggest that one is in any real way superior to the other, unlike Dragon Age which was clearly designed to be played on a PC.

I'd rather xbox360, because I can get it for like 15 bucks in U.S dollars on the internet. But that's just me.

PC.
Free DLC, cheaper, better performance if your PC meets suggested requirements.
Plus, you get to use any style of controller you feel like.

I's say PC too, but for me it's more to do with the fact that my xbox sounds like an idling jumbo jet at the best of times. That's the problem with being an early adopter (and I am still on my first 360, no RROD yet!).

No disc swapping, less texture pop-in, will look better if your machine is up to running it at high resolutions (I hardly have a top of the line system and I can crank everything all the way up, it looks gorgeous), you can use the mouse to aim... yeah, there are a lot of reasons to get the game on the PC rather than the X-Box. My only complaint is the various interface pages that have scroll bars don't recognize the mouse wheel, which is kind of a "duh!" moment - I'm guessing that was somehow a product of the cross-platform development (all the other controls are fine though).

Are they really charging for the DLC that's available now on the X-Box though? I thought the point was they charged for the Cerberus network and the DLC that enables access to was always free (thought they've said they will be releasing other DLC that won't be part of the network later which they will be selling), and only people who buy used copies would have to shell out for it since all the new games come with a voucher code for it?

For ME1, the PC version came out somewhat later than on the 360, and they took the time to improve in a few areas. The graphics are somewhat better, and the interface is vastly improved (other than that, I'm not sure).

The PC version is certainly "better", although personally, I find it more enjoyable to just sit back with a controller in my end in front of the TV, confident that the game will run as intended on the console, not needing to worry about interfering with anything else I might need to do on the computer (I find minimizing games often causes issues).

So, if you have no personal preference as to what system you play games on, the PC version is better, simply because it was released later and improved upon in the process.

Either way, I suggest you take ME2 into consideration when choosing. The connection between the games if you import a ME1 character is certainly worthwhile, and it would be best to have both on the same system to make use of that.

ME2 is one day away in Europe but the first game it was only possible to control your squad mates properly on PC

It comes down to preference, really. If I were psychic I would've preordered the game for the PC since my 360 just broke, but I really do prefer the xbox controller so I'll just wait for my box to get back.

Oh, and the DLC is free for both platforms.

I want to get it for the PC, but a played the first one on the Xbox, meaning that in order to get the most out of the PC version I'd have to spend $20 on Mass Effect 1 for the PC and play through my 3 characters AGAIN!

...FML.

I suggest checking the other thread made on this a couple of days ago. Might find some answers there. *hint hint*
