I just beat the story and it seems it has one of those end of games where you have to load from the last save.

Is this true? I gained several levels during the last level and finding the save before all of that happened will be annoying.

So, do I have to reload the game from the last save, or can I continue from after the end?

You can start all over again as that same character.
Same level, same abilities, same gear.

You can start the story again with the same guy at the same level and everything. This is what i would reccomend doing if you are thinking of doing it on hardcore.
But once you finish the story, thats it. endgame

You also keep all your gear and money and everything and your squad members stay atthe same level. Did anyone else find they had lost some of the skill points though. I couldnt get the classess to match even though they were at the same level and i tried to make them the same again when i chose their skills

I'm pretty sure you do need to load your last save. Not sure why they couldn't just let you explore that sweet universe more but whatever.

I'm assuming your level will be cut to reduce uber 1337 haxxor levels of pwnage.
Enemies are scaled to your level based on the difficulty you choose. If you're playing on normal, then bosses and some enemies will be harder, but if you play on Insane then EVERYONE has advanced shielding and regen and all that goodness. It makes for a fun time.

If you want a real challenge start a new character and make sure you choose hardcore

No equipment - They all have super I'll-blow-your-dick-off-from-300-yards-away aiming and taking cover is used about as frequently in the game as the intake of oxygen.

Makes for fun times indeed.

When I start a new game with my old character it starts at my old difficulty level, hard, while I want to do it on the hardest difficulty.

The achievement says you don't change it, so how do I start off doing the hardest difficulty?

Especially when you are 1 pistol kill short of the achievement and the first opportunity you come across is a Thresher Maw. Makes for a veeeeeery long fight.

you can change the difficulty before the end of the eden prime mission and it counts as the achievement.

As long as you change the difficulty before you leave Eden Prime and don't change it back again you will get the achievement.

What actually happens is that you can use your character and start a new game, with all the same weapons and skills. Not sure about money though.
You keep all your money as well.
