Its nothing like halo, don't get me wrong halo is a fun little game, but this is in an entirely different league. I love Mass Effect so much. In fact I might go play it right now.

Ok, w/o going nuts w/ the facts, here's the basics of it:
-great, gripping story
-deep & intricate characters
-awesome gameplay
-great graphics
-a fascinating universe
-characters you genuinely care for
Damn it, you stole all my points. I would add excellent atmosphere as well.
Ooh, that too!

Can't forget the great fun the 'choose your own adventure' way the story unfolds.

I didn't like mass effect, sure the graphics were good and there is and epic story but the combat was boring and I just wanted some fast paced action.

Anyone who judges a game after less than an hour of play shouldn't even attempt an RPG-style game.

If went straight to Eden Prime and then started killing then you've definitly missed quite a bit. The game is not meant to be rushed. The best way to play it is to stop every now then and smell the roses. And by Roses I mean characters and by Smell I mean Talk. Seriously though you will miss a lot of the character devolepment and Plot twists unless you talk to them.

joking.

but seriously its a verry good game. It has tons of replay value, verry good charecters, and the next game will let you REALLY continue the story.

That's just how the combat is...at face value, but weapon-mods, biotic/tech powers, and cover all factor into something that has distinct RPG tendencies. Also, I suspect you haven't even finished Eden Prime yet, in which case, wait until the Citadel; it's awesome and there are a bunch of primarily dialogue-oriented side-quests to do. The story is deep and epic, and the combat, I hope, will grow on you, as it did for me.

Everybody has different tastes. If you don't happen to like Mass Effect, I'm not going to convince you to change your mind anymore than I would if I explained the music or TV shows I like: you simply don't like Mass Effect.

Maybe you'll get a little deeper into it and find something you do like, but if not, tough luck: next time pick a game because you know you'll like it, not because other people do.

I see your point, I played it for a couple hours and still felt like I was waiting for something. It gets better as you go on though, and it's true that it's not supposed to be about the combat. It does combat well though. It's an RPG which like others is about story-telling. So if you don't like story-telling, this game(and really most RPG's) aren't for you.

actually it depends on the class, if you just accept the character class they give you to start off it's a pretty straight forward shooter.
If you choose some of the others you gain access to the biotic and tech abilities, that reduce your use of firearms significantly.
Of course it also has a karma system, and customizable weapons.
I will have to agree with the guy up above there, sounds like you played through about 20 minutes of it.

I wasn't impressed. The story wasn't strong enough to force me to continue playing after the character development plateaued about mid-game. (Too be fair I ended up maxing singularity first which pretty much cheesed the game reducing game play to be highly monotonous.) If the game play isn't that interesting why go through all the effort of playing the game when I could just read a book.

Wow...you must have been banging your head against the 360 instead of actually playing it.

Play it longer before asking people. Really, finish it, and if you still don't get it, come and ask us.

Then why in the name of Thor did you buy an RPG?
