Yay for long titles with completely irrelevant tangents placed in the end! ^^ Also, SUSHI!

OK THEN.

On topic.

This weeks weekend deal on steam, the critically acclaimed sci-fi 3rd person shooter... BUTTE-... GREENHOU...

...

MASS EFFECT.

I know the escapist is already very partial towards this game for its masterful storytelling, and as such, this topic will be incredibly one-sided, but yeah, should i pick it up for $10?

I myself have already tried it, and honestly found myself lost on the giant bloody spaceship/station/jacuzzi within 40 minutes.

Yeah. Gamefly got it back a within 2 days.

I feel now though that i didn't give it enough of a chance...

So then, what does the escapist think? Should we (me included) embrace the weekend $10 deal?

Also, can anyone tell me how to properly navigate in the bloody game? =3

Yes, I would suggest you buy it as soon as possible.

It's a bit sub-par as a shooter, but not amazingly terrible. It could've been better.

Yes. Definitely. Totally. Very yes. Fuck yes. Oh so yes. YES YES YES YES YES. I got it for $15 at Gamestop for 360 and would have gladly paid $40.

You should purchase it ... just for the fact you can interrupt people's speech for laughs.

Y'know, when I saw that deal on Steam, I was thinking the same thing... It's just the damn DRM that's packaged with it I can't get over. One too many forgetful reformats (this happened to my BioShock for PC), and.. Well, bye bye $10. Not much to lose, but still enough to piss me off.

Y'know, whenever I have to reformat, I either can't/don't want to have to go through and deactivate every bloody last one of my programs, y'know? Or dealing with the lengthy discussions with PR to get them to re-allow my "five installations". S'just... fuckin' retarded.

In other words, get it for console if you can. That's my plan (watching for it on Craigslist in passing).

It may take a while to get into and the side missions are not really worth the effort at all but the Mass Effect universe is great and Mass Effect as a game is an epic. Worth ten bucks? Yes. Even worth sacrificing sushi for. There is always more sushi. There is only one Mass Effect.

This just very strongly set me in the "no" direction. o.o

Is DRM really all that bad anyways? And it's seriously included on steam of all things? D=

Yeah, there's a warning about its inclusion at the bottom of the Steam store page. -_-;

When will these companies learn that this kind of shit just pisses gamers off?

And yet at the bottom of the Steam store page...:
"INTERNET CONNECTION AND END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO PLAY. MORE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT WWW.EA.COM."

That's copy/pasted from there. It's not on any of Valve's stuff, which needs a connection to download, but why else would they feel the need to mention it? o_O

However, if you do buy it, let me know - that's all that's holding me back, really.

I admit to seeing this, but the same topic has many complaining of valve's slowness in updating these pages. It is for such reasoning that i doubt that statement as wells.

Damn, you're right... (after more reading of the page)

Hmm... I might have to pay the $10 and find out... Damnit! >_< You just made me waste money! *accusing pointing*

Well, tomorrow anyway - need to wait for my paycheck and cash it. -_-;

*takes said sushi for win*

I'll spring for it... I figure for 60-80+ hours of gameplay, even if i end up hating it, it'll still be worth it in some quasi-centric way...

-offers quasi-centric sushi- ^^

Edit: ALSO

POST 250! ^^

Dude, just about ANY VIDEOGAME is worth ten smackers. When you're talking about an extremely good BioWare roleplaying game that also has a very fun shooting element and a badass tank? Why the hell are you asking? What the fuck kind of question is that? YOU NEED TO BE PLAYING THIS!

BUY IT, COMRADE!

In all honesty, first bioware game here >.> and i officially popped my bioware cherry with this same game a few years ago. It was unsatisfying.

I am giving her a second chance though, and am currently downloading her ^^

In response to the navigation question... did you try using the map? It made it rather difficult to get lost once you got your bearings straight.
