This is my first review, so please bear with me.

Mass Effect is a Third Person Shooter that takes place in a distant future where several intergalactic alien species who all for some reason or another speak english and accept us stuck-up humans into their galactic civilization called Mass Effect.

In the beginning of the game, you find yourself aboard the Normandy. You make your way to the front of the ship while a camera follows close behind you. You then confront Seth Gree- im sorry, 'Joker',the pilot of the ship. I must admit that a smile spread wickedley across my face as i was given the option to tell him "I love you, heres a candy bar" or "Shut up and keep flying before i shove this pistol up your ass and pull the trigger." But, yet again, another RPG where your options are either pure good or evil with not much of a middle ground.

I will give Mass Effect credit. Its character custimization is amazing, and its graphics made my eyes bleed, seeing as i didnt want to blink and miss a second of the scenery. (Scenery = Ashley's overley exposed buttocks). The combat system is very good, even if it reminded me vaguely of Gears of War, what with the shakey sprint camera and shooting from cover. Its weapon system gets an A+; you can easily switch between weapons in a quick-menu you can bring up which is very helpful.

The RPG aspect of the game was very well done. Every character has a great side story, and the main story is very original. Side quests are a pain, seeing as you constantly have to fly from system to system just to have some stuck-up Admiral tell you that his men screwed up a mission that he now asks you to clean up.

One flaw i look to point out is the Mako. The mako is a very... unusual vehicle. It can climb up the sides of mountains at almost 90 degree angles and fly for a short time with the use of jets, but if you hit anything (a rock, a box, etc.) it will send the mako bouncing around as if it were made of rubber and filled with springs. Another thing i noticed and will explain in a long, boring story: I was driving my Mako on an uncharted world when i came across a lava pit. I thought to myslef: "Probably shouldn't go in there." so i did my best to avoid it. Later i came across the same pit and drove a little too close to it. About half of my front right tire touched the very edge of the pit and the entire vehicle proceeded to combust and i was given the "game over" screen. I guess a popped tire really is the end of the world. Who knew?

Overall, Mass Effect is a great game, and i would recommend it to any RPG fan.

You didn't mention the story, which is one of the best things about the game!! But still, a positive review for mass effect is always welcomed by me.

I still stand firmly claiming Mass Effect should have been scrapped for a KOTOR game. BUT! I've expressed my love for those games enough and Mass Effect was Ok. Not as good as it seemed to be but still. If they make a new KOTOR game there are a lot of things they could use from Mass Effect, which is a compliment. However I didn't like that there was VO for you character. I liked it more when you had to imagine it. And I to would recommend Mass Effect to RPG fans.

"Mass effect" is a physical phenomenon that some creatures can sense or manipulate. All that "biotics" stuff, as well as the propulsion systems and weaponry. It's not the name of their civilization.

Yeah, that. That's a big minus point if you can't get your facts straight in your own review.
