The students brought it on themselves. Their idiocy enacted a stupid rule and now they have to deal with it.

The correct response is to start saying Ni.
And only stop after receiving a shrubbery.
At which point they must find the mighiest tree in the forest and cut it down with...a herring!

I don't think banning the word is necessary but if kids are actually using the word to interrupt classes I can see punishments to reduce people from disrupting class.

We had all sorts of words banned in my school. The teachers knew we were deliberately making up alternatives for swearing though, so it may well be appropriate. We never got quite as far as just saying 'meep' but I'm sure that's where it's going now.

Glad I don't go to that school. 'Meep' is a knee-jerk outburst when I'm startled. Like that time a cat jumped out of my desk...

And I'm sad that the students would be such jerks. Ruin the word for everyone. But they'll just find some other word. Do what my school does. Interruptions means write-up and trip to principal's office. X amount of write-ups means detention. Skipping detention results in suspension. Simple. Let their parents go nuts all they want, but they should have taught their kids better. Nothing I hate more than trying to listen while some idiots are carrying on a conversation like they're sitting near a speaker at a Motley Crue concert...

Is this really the only problem at that school?

Don't they have bigger things to concern themselves with?

Those kids must be unruly. Just teach all the teachers how to give evil eyes, and if that doesn't work, how to use firearms. Warning gunshots will shut people up really quickly.

Oh, how lucky that I'm Swedish and say Mip! instead (yes, it's spelled with the ! attached at the end, and capital letter, it's for pronounciation purposes).

Someone should totally contact the ACLU about this, that a catchphrase that is in no way offensive is causing students to be suspended. FAIL!

This is the most idiotic thing I have heard. Instead of giving punishment for talking in class, they are getting rid of "meep"? It's not solving the problem if the students can say "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK" but not "meep".

Well I have to agree with the principal. The word meaning dosen't change the fact that it is disrupting class.

Well, the kids were dumb enough to continue doing it after being asked to stop, so they deserve it the pricks.

But still...

Meep Meep!

1. If it is used to disrupt classes then the students should be punished. This doesn't solve the problem by any means.

2. If the students were just doing it once, then they should change it to sheep. I want to see the school start banning real words.

This reminds me of middle school. Every now and then, for not apparent reason, everyone would go "Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh" in the middle of lunch at the cafeteria. Everytime they did it (I never participated, since it was stupid), the school admin. would take away the purchasable snacks the next day. That pissed me off, which is another reason I didn't join in.
