For me, it was a release from all those sophisticated games, where you just killed people for fun.
Oh I get that, but I just feel that the game is rated too highly because of that. As if its purpose of not being serious means that it doesn't need to be properly polished.

It's also a complete oxymoron - a story that takes itself far too seriously, combined with mindless gameplay (and not the good kind of mindless for me).

Obviously that's just my opinion (I'm the one who said it, after all).
Oh yeah, but after seeing the first cutscene, I was like, well fuck this, and skipped all of them.

And for me, it's not the mindless violence that's the only selling point, it's the only game I know where you actually feel like you're stronger or better than everyone else.

It's not spectacular, but it's fun for a mindless hour or so.

You people actually cared about the story in Prototype?

I just ran around and sliced people up, beat up the military, and killed "zombies."

One of my top games of 2009.

Well he aborbs thousands and thousands of memories by the end of the game. Is it possibly that he absorbed the memory of someone who knew of it's location?

I had a really hard time caring about Prototype's plot holes, or even the all around awful plot. There's plenty of other games with terrible plots and plot holes that don't have the saving grace of letting me throw civilians at helicopters, so I save my displeasure for those. I wouldn't bother trying to make sense of the plot or even caring, the developers sure didn't.
