I like the members going "is this spam!?"

It's a someone with a post count telling about a sale, maybe that's a good thing? I always said there should be a deal section of the forum. Members spreading deals they found.
Months [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.139511-Deals-on-Steam?page=1] ahead of you on that one.

I've updated my thread with the sales of my interest. I say my interest because, well, I can't cover every game ever for everyone.

Edit: I misinterpreted what you meant Snotnarok. I see now you meant a whole sub-forum for deals not not just some random threads.
Indeed indeed. Because I see deals on sites like estarland.com (I say this site because it's for next gen/classic gamers alike and there's been several awesome deals there that I really wanted to share but didn't want to get the ban hammer) and I don't really want to start a thread on it less I look like an ad bot.

C1ik here 4 bigger p3n1$!! :U

I think it'd be neat to have a thread or something else where the community can say "I found a deal here!" for things people here are interested in, games and writing stuff ya know? I've been saying this probably since I got here, but I'm sure there's reasons NOT to do it for the Escapist. (potential loss of ads if your community is doing it for you etc etc). I dunno, but I still think we should.

Great, now I get to relive the Christmas special and be pennyless for the summer. Or I would relive it, if I wasn't already pennyless...
I very cleverly solved that problem by already having bought almost everything I want during the Christmas sale (and the weekly ones since then), so there's very little for me to waste money on this time around, fortunately. Maybe that'll give me enough time to finish catching up on stuff I got over the winter, because I still have a couple things from then I haven't finished yet...
I'm actually kinda in the same boat. I sorta cleaned Steam out during the last holiday sale. Not a lot left on there I'm truly interested in that I don't already have.

I am buying Trine though.

I just got couter-strike:source from the sale, but I'm having trouble connecting to any servers because they won't respond. Can anyone help with this problem?
maybe try waiting a bit, steam is bugging out a bit at the moment because so many people are buying stuff. Other than that it could maybe be router/firewall settings

Edit:

i think i got off pretty lightly, I only bought this stuff:

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena,
Silent Hunter III,
ARMA: Combat Operations,
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky,
Machinarium,
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition,
Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge Pre-Order,
Port Royale 2,
Gothic 3,
Gothic II: Gold Edition,
Overlord,
Overlord: Raising Hell,
Overlord II,
BioShock 2,
Killing Floor,
Killing Floor - Outbreak Character Pack,
Killing Floor - Nightfall Character Pack,
Trine

Pretty restrained I think you'll agree :D
Dear god man, stop teasing me with the deals, my wallet can't take it at the moment!

"Heh", I like their marketing campaign.
"THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 2,251 UNPROVOKED SHARK ATTACKS REPORTED WORLDWIDE. THERE ARE NO REPORTS OF DEATH OR INJURY AS A RESULT OF PLAYING GAMES ON STEAM."
They are obviously not considering the number of people who have been attacked by sharks due to not paying attention while playing games on steam via underwater laptops!

The danger is obvious.

Steam is great. I got a 22" widescreen monitor and Sennheiser Audiophile Headphones recently so I just bought a ton of games (mainly b/c SC2 Beta is down and I didn't have school for a month).

Beat:
Dead Space
Thief 3
Call of Cthulhu
Metro 2033 (BEAUTIFUL GAME)

Not touched:
Mass Effect 1+2
Dragon Age and Expo
All 3 STALKERS
Jericho (rofl 2 bucks)

All these games are pretty cool and I would never have bought them full price. I spent quite a bit on these games, but I haven't played single player for quite a few years (2005) so I have a lot of catching up to do and these games will not be beaten soon since I just started 18 units of school and when SC2 Beta is back up I doubt I will even play single player anything for a long time. But Steam is awesome, I love them. I hate gamestop/EB games with a passion too.

Well there goes my last few pennies. I've literally less than a dollar in the bank now, this is the most poor I've been since I was still in HighSchool.

Totally worth it though.

On a side note, I notice the new King's Bounty games are on sale. If you don't own em, buy em now. I picked up the two games when last they were on sale, and have pumped over a hundred hours into the series so far according to STEAM and I'm still not even half-way through the second game. Amazing series and some of the best bang-per-buck I've ever gotten outta a game.

I've been wanting to try them for some time, and now they're at 75% off, both for US$9.99. Great price. I think I'll get both.

For those of you on spending sprees, have a look at the indie games as well.

Stuff like Osmos, Defense Grid, World of Goo, Machinarium and Trine are all great purchases for a fiver each. Basically, no matter what genre you're looking at, there's practically always an indie games that'll have you entertained for about a week for five bucks. How is that not a good deal?

Personally, I'm trying *really* hard not to pick anything at all, I still have a bunch of games left unplayed since the Xmas sales. Oh well, maybe if I just buy one...

I have all these except Defense Grid, bought most of them in previous sales. I also have lots of game I bought and still haven't even downloaded yet. But the temptation is too much...

(I'm saying to myself I won't buy a new game until a possible holiday sale, so I'll have time to play them all; well, I have to make an exception for StarCraft II, of course... I'm getting it, no doubt about it).
