I have it. It's an old 4X in space that straddled the DOS/Win95 eras. You pick (or create) your species, colonize planets, conquer with fleets of ships (which you also design), develop technology, and take over the galaxy. And yes, you can build your very own Death Star and turn planets into gravel.
It's a great game; you can pick it and it's predecessor up for only $6 at Good Old Games.
Well to explain it to anyone too young to remember it. Master of Orion 2 (MoO2) is still considered the best space opera TBS out there, even though it was released in '96.
Consider this to be basicly what Starcraft is to the RTS genre. Every game afterwards WANTS to be that game. There are a LOT of good RTS games out there. But there is only one starcraft.
Likewise there are a lot of 4X space-TBS games out there, but only one MoO2. Most reviews of newer games (Distant worlds, Galactic civilisations) will mention MoO2 in them since nothing has yet summarilly de-throned it.
