There has been a whole lot of hoo-haa about matt smith, as the latest choice for Dr.Who. I myself was never a big fan of the series, but did take an interest in the fans disturbance at the new actor. What I got out of it was that the fans really don't like change. David tennant was okay, but as I said, I never really became a fan, only recently did I take it upon myself to watch two seasons (both matt smith) and I have to say I found little to no problem. he truly characterizes that naive quality the doctor has, and when the scenes turn dark, he portrays them well too.
Indeed, the only problem with the later seasons is the writing. I felt it difficult to truly be immersed in the show, and the plot and character arcs did nothing to help. (though it must be said that in a show where characters are constantly either meeting themselves, dying, rebirthing and transforming, you leave little room for character arcs.) Almost nothing happened in any episode that was relevant to the apparent sub-plot underlying the season, except in one or two jam-packed episodes before the finale.
Matt Smith is doing a good job, but that's really just my standpoint, can anyone provide me with a tangible argument against him?
