I posted this in some other thread about your favorite character dying. After I was finished with the post, I marveled at the brilliance that I had just spat out of through my fingers. Tell me what you think of this.

Max Payne.

Let's set the scene.

Max has settled down with Mona Sax, who would probably be Mona Payne (HA HA HA) if she wasn't a criminal. They have a child. On this child's oh, I dunno', 13th or so birthday, an organization looking to avenge Vlad from Max Payne 2 sends a hitman to take care of Max. The hitman breaks in and shoots our faithful ex-protagonist, mortally wounding him. However, Max is a tough guy and he's determined not to let this shit happen again. This time, he protects his family from the crazed gunman. However, Max Payne is not able to reach the hospital quickly enough and dies.

Now, his son is distraught over his death. His only clue as to who the hitman was is a small *insert dubious symbol of great plot importance* which he found near the man's corpse. Fast forward to adulthood. The son becomes a cop to follow in Max's footsteps, and has kept dubious symbol of great plot importance. One day, he is assigned a case and the symbol comes up again, and another Max payne-esque adventure bursts onto our Xbox 360s and PS3s.

I'm sorry no offense to you but I will not forgive max payne for what the movie did to me. That movie(if you could call it that) was the worst thing ever made in existence. I would seriosly rather jump off the empire state building than watch that movie again.

You need to play it on a harder setting, because if you had, you would have got the real ending where Mona lives.

Therefore, no flaw.

However, my idea is all worth jack-diddly-squat now because Mas Payne 3 is already in development by Rockstar Vancouver, and I can't contact them in any way and tell them that they're going to bum-rape the entire series with this game. I don't think even the movie could have fucked things up as badly as this game is going to.

So, basically, what happens here is it's 12 yrs. after Max Payne 2. Max lost his job and has moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil for a job as a "security guard" of some sort for a wealthy family. He is now bald, has a full beard, and scars all over his face. No leather jacket.

They're going to rip out everything that made the Max Payne game good and turn it into a third person version of Far Cry? What in the world are they thinking? Has Rockstar Vancouver been taking stupid pills? I don't particularly care that it is nothing like my plot, but this won't even be set in New York! No mafia gangs, no connection to those old movies that gave it that charm and grandoise. No! It's gonna' take place in fucking Brazil! And he's not even a cop anymore!

Augh, I can't keep going on about it, it's enfuriating.

Getting back to my little story...

Let's just ASSUME that the harder difficulty ending is the real ending. Now what do you think?

Yeah, you're probably right about that. It's a shame. Too bad I couldn't find a way to contact Rockstar Games or Rockstar Vancouver. Oh well.

Sorry to say but the story came up with by Rockstar is better than yours(no offense but you asked for an honest opinion). As a writer, I can see flaws in your story. One being your decision to kill off Max in the beggining of the game. It kills the theme of the series(as the title of the series is based on Max' pain). To replace him with another character ruins the concept of the series.

You can't do that with a series that is named after the protagonist. Max HAS to be the protagonist. I had written an idea for Max Payne 3 a while back, but wasn't feelin it so I stopped. It involved Max living his current days as a member of a new faction of criminal mercenaries known as the "Sons of the Circle" made up of broken warriors of society, and how and why he came to be one of them.

The story begins as it alway does(at the end) with Max being the last one living of the band of killers and him recalling the death count that led to this point. Max is much older this time around(many years have passed since MP2). Jim Bravura has just passed and Max has been promoted and assigned his own team of "gun slingers"(this is actually what they are unoffically referred as a joke by Max' colleges because of their methods). They are similar to the "Strike Team" on the show "The Shield". New York has become a terrible place to live. Mob wars are rampant and the streets have been turned into a civil war zone(as Max puts it).

Max' team were hand picked by him, and they concist of 6 "gun fighters" who are as close to Max in weilding a gun as possible("angel" who is Max' 2nd best was personally trained by Max). Max and his team have been investegated by internal affairs for awhile regarding their tactics of "shoot first.....ask later". The story begins when Max' best agent(and protege)is gunned down on a "strike" mission. The agent is Jim Bravuras daughter Barbra a.k.a "B.B"(who joined the force shortly before his passing and was Max' parter for a while). The boys in the force gave her the nickname "B.B" but Max despises calling her that because of the last person he knew with that name(the backstabbing bastard).

This keeps in tradition with Max' story beggining with the shooting of a women. The gunman is identified as a man named "Ballet" a high ranking member of a mysterious group of mercenaries/assassins known as "sons of the circle" who have been going from contry to contry taking part in the worst hotspots assisting the higest bidder. Now that New York has become a war zone, they have brought their services to these streets. When a number of offical members of New York and key criminal leaders are mysteriously slain, Max links this to them.

One by one Max' team is slain during the inverstigation, until only he and Barbra remain(herself in the hospital). Max is forced to engage the "sons of the circle" alone, killing "Ballet" in a vicious gun battle. But Max is still out gunned and fataly wounded. Max is believed to be dead by the remaining mercs and left to die. Max is rushed to the hospital where he is left in a coma for 3 weeks.

Max awakens and makes a full recovery but discovers that Barbra has passed away while he was out(and he had missed the funeral). Also that the "Sons of the Circle" have left New York and disappered off the radar. Max also discovers that the "Sons of the Circle" were hired by someone within the police department to take out key criminal members in New York(but didn't anticipate the carnage they would cause). Fed up with the corruption of the force, Max throws down his shield and resigns from the NYPD for the final time, vowing vengence for Barbras life.

Part II

2 years pass and we are brought back to where the story was introduced in the beggining. Max himself has become a "private gun" and is still tracking the wear abouts of the "Sons of the Circle". Since his resignation from the NYPD, Max has been relentlessly hunted down by the S.O.C(Sons of the Circle)for his murder of "Ballet"(revealed to by the younger brother of the leader).

Max is found by "Priest"(the co leader)and offered to join them and stop the fued between them. Max' services are also requested by a local mob boss located in china known as "The Dove"(real name Lin Rai) who requires protection from those within his own circle whom he fears desire his blood. This man has contracted the assistance of the "Sons of the Circle" for himself. But the protective job he gives Max is for his wife(whom is pregnant).

This is Max' only chance to take down the "Sons of the Circle"......from the inside. Max finds himself now almost a part of the criminal underworld. Working under this criminal leader, Max kills many of his oposers while protecting the life of his pregnant wife. One by one Max slips further and further into the underworld while being lost within his own innuendo of vengence and personal justice(same as before).

While working along side the "sons of the circle" on various "missions" Max sabotages and brings them down from the inside(killing them one by one working his way up to "Sekou" the vicious leader). It is also discovered that this whole time Max is once again working undercover for an "off the record" collaborative firm whom have been seeking to bring down the "Sekou" and "The Dove" for a long time. They chose Max as an agent after reading his files. They have given him full "kill cleareance" and allow him to do anything he needs to bring them down(dead or alive)as long as he doesn't harm any innocence.

Max sees this as an opportunity to "kill two birds......with a hundred bulletes". Killin his way through the "Sons of the Circle" Max' cover is blown. Lin Rai is found dead, and Max discovers the truth. Lin Rai was a smoke screen, "the hand that lures the eye away from the prestige". Lin Rais "wife" was revealed to be the true "Dove"(the vicious crimelord who employed the "Sons of the Circle" for protection).

Max had revealed to her that he was an undercover agent in a moment of weakness to calm her down(not knowing who she trully was). She escapes while Max is left to battle the remaining "sons of the circle" alone. Since the firm employing Max are off the record, they can't provide direct assistance to Max.

I think your plot summary/ suggestion whatever far surpasses what we have been told is Max Payne 3. I just cant look forward to the new game if I'm going to be playing as someone who looks like Stone Cold Steve Austin, running through sunny streets with curry stains on his wife beater vest. I just don't see how it's going to work.

I also like how your suggestion carries on from where the proper ending left off, unlike the new official sequal. I thought having Mona living and getting back together with max was a far more rewarding ending, and it's good to see that you think that too.

I also like how your suggestion carries on from where the proper ending left off, unlike the new official sequal. I thought having Mona living and getting back together with max was a far more rewarding ending, and it's good to see that you think that too.
