^Thanks. I was going to post this in a seperate thread(which I still may do). But I always thought it would be a good idea to explore Max going undercover once again. We barely saw his undercover work in the first game. The only glimps we got was his interaction with the "Finito Brothers".
My original concept was that (much like the story for the real 3rd game)Max is disillusioned by the corruption of the NYPD and resigns. But not before his past catches up with him. Secretly investegated by I.A. for years, Max is finally confronted about his MANY sins of the past. Vengence(MP1), Lust(MP2) and with the deaths of those who were protecting him from his skeletons in the closet(Alfred Wooden and now Jim Bravura), no one is left to protect him. He is brought in for questioning following the murder of Barbra Bravura, and questioned for the often "ruthless" and "off the books" methods of his team "The Gunslingers".
Whatever "magic" Wooden had used to sheild Max had apparently worn off following his death. And Jim had spent the most of his remaining days defending and taking up for his "best cop". I.A. were looking to bring Max down and they had the evidence to do so. The vengeful murder of 656 criminals during the Valkyr scandle. The aiding and abeding of a fugitive murder suspect and known killer Mona Sax. And now his and his teams possible involvement in many killings of mob leaders across New York. They build a case against Max that he cannot hope to fight, and he faces a posslible life time sentence or the death penalty.
Max is prepared to accept his fate until he is offered another path. A private collaborative firm goes against the charges brought up against Max, and propose that he work for them on a number of off the record "assignments" that require his "skills". For years Max works for them, protected from his charges. The deal is he would work for them a "sentence" that would compensate for the one waiting him. This deal is seen as a "community service of law enforcement". If he doesn't accept the deal, he will face his charges head on and possibly get the death penalty. His latest mission is an undercover assignment in China.
To infiltrate a rising group of cut throat mercenaries/assassins who call themselves the "sons of the circle". Max had killed one of their high ranking members, a man called "Ballet"(short for "Ballet of Bulletes"). He was known as their best shooter(until he met Max). Max had killed Ballet in retribution for his murder of Barbra Bravura(and the rest of Max' team). Max was then hunted down by "trackers" of the S.O.C. Those who kill any members of the S.O.C are given the option to become their slave or die(and become their slave in the afterlife). Max was in a coma after an ambush following his vicious gun duel with Ballet.
