Ugh... I just want the good version of Spore they showed during development - the one that didn't water down the creature creation to a crappy numbers system.

I liked Spore, but it was still a big disappointment to me as it delivered far less than was shown by Will Wright. They seemed to boil away the emergant properties stuff in place of generic numbers.

I look forward to this. I loved spore editor. I made about 400 things on it. Though the gameplay was lacking. I spent most of my time in the editor/creator mode.

Walking into a Mos Eisley Cantina as a species you design yourself would totally rock. I hope Lucasarts gets on that one some time soon. And I waould want to be a gunslinging bounty hunter, not a Jedi.

I enjoyed parts of spore. Mainly, the Creature Creator. I found that to be the most fun out of the entire game. The rest of it was a watered down version of five other games that did it better.

The only way that Maxis can make this right is if they start rethinking what real content is. The player needs to be engaged in something evolving, not with static elements like the rest of Wright's games have been. Sim Societies was an abysmal ride through City Planning using static elements that limited the player based on the amount of "creativity" or "spirituality" their town had. Sims 3 suffers even worse from this, having a system where all the personalities are fundamentally the same without room for cultural intuition or characterization (Polygamy is impossible. The AI is horrendous, ect.) and Spore suffers from the unfortunate effect of having it's entire situation be one big joke. The game play is the same no matter what path you take. It could have been so much better.

So if they're taking the framework of Spore and remaking Spore into what it should be, good. I'll probably see if my consumerzombie buddy of mine will buy it and I'll play it. But if it's just making use of Spore's mechanics to create some sort of Action RPG, then it's destined to fail. It's gameplay mechanics aren't meant for that sort of game, and working from the framework will cause a lot of issues.

I want a persistent 4x galactic space conquest game, set in your incredible (and incredibly boring) galaxy, where you can do actual 4x type space galactic conquest types of things.

I'm still waiting for them to deliver what they promised with Spore. It was a cop-out on what you promised Will. I hung on your every word since you announced spore. It was like a Molyneux promise except I believed you. I even bought the galactic edition for petes sake.

Did I get a game were my creature would live or die depending on how well I made it? No I didnt. I could win the game with a 12 ft tall penis if I wanted. Maybe I'll consider buying another maxis game when youre ready to fix Spore
