The Halo Reach Beta is coming to everyone with a copy of Halo 3 ODST. If you are, are you excited? I am, and no Halo hater is going to stop me from downloading the Beta into my Xbox. So, are you ready for Halo: Reach?
I'm fairly certain that if one broke into your home and shot you that would stop you.
Silly Mr. Wednesday, no it wouldn't. I'd have my twitch-shooting skills honed to the finest and I'd no-scope him before he even gets a chance to fire. :3
As for May 3rd... I specifically scheduled it off, and will be staying up the entire night just so I can start playing the beta as soon as possible. I think that should tell you how excited I am.
However, for the sake of actual discussion, I want to bring up the controls.
In Reach, I noticed that four buttons on the default controls were changed. LB is use equipment, RB is melee attack, X is back to reload, and B is now switch grenades.
I realize that now that dual-wielding is out, there's no reason to use the bumpers for reloading and grenade switching, and given that with the exception of Bumper Jumper, LB is always use equipment (even in the new control scheme, Recon, which is designed to mimic Halo 3's default controls), being able to use that equipment as easily as possible is probably important. What strikes me particularly is how RB is melee in default controls now. It leaves me at a bit of a loss.
I used Green Thumb in every Halo game that allows it because I hate hitting the B button to melee, and I tend to use the melee a lot, even when dual-wielding in 2/3, but these control changes make me think that RB for melee would actually be easier than clicking the right stick in terms of precision. On the other hand, it may just take longer for me to get used to it.
(For the record, I've stopped playing Call of Duty, so that game having melee also mapped to RS is a non-factor.)
Anyone else's thoughts on the new controls?
(Keep in mind, like previous Halo games, the control setups generally swap the functions of two buttons. Boxer trades grenade throw with melee, etc.)
