Ok, its getting close to the US election, and I've noticed a few threads on here anti-obama in title and OP, but mixed in replies.

But so far, I've seen no anti-McCain or even pro-McCain.

Now, forgive me as I'm a non-US person, so I can't comment on the domestic policies of either (as I know nothing about them), but from an internation view, it seems to me McCain thinks America's role in the world is simply being the best, forcing others to accept that, etc - i.e. George "Double-ya" Bush. Obama seems aware that their is a world beyond the borders of the USA (Plus Canada and Russia given Palins view that being next to both gives her international experience).

So, Why all the Obama-hate? Or why the lack of McCain hate? Or why the lack of McCain love? I've no idea where this'll go, but it should be interesting (factual comments with sources, please)

I would rather see a dog turd in office than McCain. (Come to think of it, a turd would be better then the current president as well)

Well, odds on Obama winning are pegged at like 90%+ at this point. So most of the focus on either side is going to be on what he's like and what he'll do.

A lot of the Obama threads do contain McCain hate.

There's not a lot of McCain love around right now in general because those who dislike Obama pretty much realize they're not going to be able to push their candidate through, so now they're obsessing over what bad stuff they think is gonna happen in the next four years rather than the qualities of a candidate they know they'll have to forget about in a month anyway. (At least that's what they're doing subconsciously, harhar.)

Saying McCain is a xerox of W is about as mistaken as believing Obama is a Muslim. And the old "Republicans/conservatives don't know jack about the world outside the US" line is wearing thin. While there are many who are like that, the same is true for the other side. You'll find that lots of conservatives actually see the world clearer than they're given credit for - they just don't wear the rose-tinted glasses that are in vogue.
As for my view on McCain - mixed. He excites me equally as much as he depresses me. This sentiment is probably very widespread, so no one knows quite what they think of the man. Hence, they don't talk much about him. He's also a Republican, which doesn't get you much air-time on the 'net. Obama, though, attracts opinions like a magnet; everyone talks about him. Is he the Great White/Black Hope? Is he in league with anti-American crazies? Will he put America back on track? Will he burn US preeminence to the ground with his loony liberal views? Stay tuned to find out.
McCain, whatever his particular strengths and weaknesses, is the 'same old, same old'. Obama, whether he is or isn't, looks like something different - both figuratively and literally.

This is one of the most spot-on analyses of the current situation I've seen from any forum.
Now, as for McCain hate, I do not have it. I don't hate Obama either. I just hate many more of Obama's ideas than McCain's ideas, and as such, would rather have McCain in office, though in all honesty, I'd rather bring Reagan back from the dead, as Reagan is one of my favorite political figures in history.

I'm not anti-Mccain, I'm anti Palin, and we all know if we elect Mccain she'll get at least 2 years as President.

Hey, don't diss Palin's credentials. I mean, she can see Russia from her house! When you have that as your sole qualification, what else do you need?

I think part of the reason why Obama has gotten so much more attention can be traced to the fact that there was a long, drawn-out, brutal attention-grabbing fight over who would get the Democratic nomination, whereas McCain sort of won the Republican nomination by failing to be particularly noteworthy and thus outlasting the competition.

Well, yeah, Palin. It's as though McCain suddenly realized "Oh no! I'm already 71 and I haven't gotten to be president yet! Better run up a campaign now!"

From what I've seen, Palin looks to be a typical Republican on issues, so the only thing I can think of for McCain having chosed her is to get the Hilary supporters on his side, since a bunch of them hate Obama so much for keeping her from the nomination.

Economic wise, I don't know much, so I won't say anything. But in terms of social issues, I'm pretty liberal.

i get the feeling that the lack of mcain hate is due to the overzealousness of mcain's supporters and that if anyone were to bad mouth him they would get loads of shit from them...

I strangely want to name that a unit of McCain.

It's not that I hate McCain per-se, I just hate how he became "generic republican" after getting the nod as if he figured he only had any chance of winning by doing that. hell before that and before making Palin his running mate I actually considered voting for him if the Democratic nomination turned out to be horrible (i.e. Hillary).

That and some of the downright crazy overzealousness of his supporters. Not all of them, but some.
