I recently completed mass effect for the second time so i could transfer the character to mass effect 2. however, after completing the game, i find that while i can start a new game with the old character, i can't transfer it to ME2. could anyone help me with this?

BTW... Got both games from steam. dunno if it's relevant.

Hmmm...
Well... I have it on 360...
But, if it is the same, did you check to make sure that the option isn't in the New Game menu?
That's where it is for 360... New Game > Import Mass Effect character/save.
Hope that may help.

Yeah, you're trying to find an Import option on the first Mass Effects menu aren't you?

Just start up ME2 and select new game, importing is then the bottom option.

oh, come on, give me more credit than that =P
no, i'm trying to import the character by opening ME2 and selecting import ME1 character (or something similiar)

I had to go to my hard drive, My Documents. There was a folder called Bioware.
Go in there, find the ME1 folder, then go to saves.
I copied all of them into ME2/Saves/ME1.
Err...more accurately,
C:\Users\[insert your computer name here]\My Documents\Bioware.
Good luck.

Open the configure tool from the launcher and go from there
by "starting a new game with the old character" i mean in ME1. I can start a NG+, so it's obvious the end-game save is in there, but i can't transfer it to ME2 for some reason
