Mass Effect 3 is going to suck because the psychic octopus said it would, and I trust that guy more than any developer. I always reserve my judging to release or until I play it. Of course, the fact that I suck at fps games makes me judge them as "Not for me" before release, but if they look like they have potential I will check them out despite that. I also do my best not to judge games compared to other games, this is especially important when it comes to sequels. When I heard that a sequel to Tales of Symphonia was going to be made I pictured the greatest game in the world. I realized I had to lower my expectations and just be happy if it came out (it barely did) and treat it like a brand new game. It worked and I loved it.
However, I know the pitfalls of judging a game before it comes out. It might make you miss out on great games, or waste money on crappy games. To avoid a heated discussion here I wont mention any special games in either category...
Actually... to be a person who does not like shooters I play an awful lot of them. My most played games are either shooters or JRPGs, Super Smash Bros. still rank as #1, but lately I've played nothing but Last Remnant and Killing Floor. Before that I played some Mass Effect (not a fps I know).

They took what interesting aspect we love from ME1 and 2 out from the game, so why should we like it?

-Instead of exciting space exploration, now it's boring Earth.
-Took out, 'useless' skill point system. Forcing you to play through the damn game again to get a new set of skills.
-Took out new romances, nope, no new romance for ME3.
-Probably tard the plot up to gain more audience.

One positive thing through, there's probably no more stuff mining.
You obviously haven't been following the information coming out.

- There will be a galaxy spanning conflict.

- There will be multiple-evolving skill trees.

- With so many established characters, you've plenty of choice. Casey Hudson has also confirmed the possibly of new LIs.

- That's your problem.

Go and do some research.

1. Where did you pull that? From your rectal area I presume. You're not bound to Earth, part of the game takes place in Earth but there's plenty of space exploration.
2. The skillpoint system was sort of stupid, especially in ME2. Also, the skills reset on ME2, remember?
3. I don't really know what you mean by this. There are romances in ME3, but as there are no new personalities in your party, the romances occur with people from the previous games.
4. Where do you base this? I think this one came from the same place where your first point did. We know next to nothing about the plot and you've already decided it sucks?

Yeah... everything that you've written here, isofar as it can be, is wrong.

The game only begins on Earth, with the majority of the game spent travelling around the galaxy as normal, trying to raise an anti-Reaper army to take back Earth.

Skills are being enhanced, and more choice added. Extra skills specialisations are being added for each skill, and you start with the skills you had at the end of ME2, albeit probably in broad strokes, as it were.

Casey Hudson has been ambiguous on this issue on Twitter. First he said there were no new love interests, then he said there were. There's definitely new romances, though, given that ME3 will have a m/m option for the first time.

Supposition, impossible to be certain.

I've noticed, at least by my own tastes, that games released of late have been lacklustre.

I already suspected that DA2 wouldn't be my cup of tea and that suspicion was proven correct, although it was better than expected I didn't enjoy it a great deal.

You mentioned Brink, which I was looking forward to and was subsequently crushed when I found out how 'deep' the singleplayer was. That was money wasted.

OT: Bottom line is, people will always pre-judge things. I know I make mental notes of things I do and do not like and the same goes for games. People are voicing their concerns or in the worst case, trolling.

I think CH means the new homosexual romance options. Makes sense, at least.

But.... speculation is fun!
If you are serious, I agree. It is a great way to occupy yourself while waiting for an anticipated release. And more importantly, it is harmless.

I judge games, based on what games the developer has done before, your example with Brink, I didnt like Quake Wars, so I figure I wont like Brink.

As for ME3, well, DA2 speaks for itself I think. One of the shittiest games Ive played in my life. And Ive played Section 8.

And also, I don't recall Dragon Age 2 getting much hate before it came out. Players seemed to think it would be just like the Dragon Age they already knew and love. But when it came out, opinions were quite obviously...iffy.
Food for thought I guess.
People were hating on Dragon Age II for supposedly being mindless action without any strategy for months before the game was released.

Not as far ahead as people are stupidly giving up on ME3, though.

Well... people kinda have to pre-judge a game when deciding whether or not to buy it.

I'd like to be able to try every single game before making judgements, I really would, but it's not really financially viable.

Although I feel your pain. I won't deny that it irritates me when I hear people pre-hating on something that I like.

PS. I hereby predict that ME3 is going to be officially awesome. Calling it now.
