Well I was going to say have her wear a secondary mask or just have the camera conveniently avoid her face at all times, even during her dialogue.

I say leave the mask on but I'm not really allowed to comment fairly on this matter as I seem to have a "thing" for facial coverings.....

Remains a favorite of mine for a potential face.

Personally, I want to see it. They pulled that "Look, it's off screen, teehee" bullocks last time around...really put a damper on the romance.

I've seen everything Shepard has experienced up until that point first hand, but I'm conveniently left in the dark on something so important that occurs in his life? A second bullocks.

The way I look at it, there isn't "mystique" in the sense that I would like it to be preserved for its own sake. I like the character's personality. I like her voice. I want to have a visual representation of her to go with that voice that isn't a mostly faceless mask.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I actually haven't imagined a face for her. Hasn't even crossed my mind to attempt to do so.

Weird that a chicken legged race with clawed hands would develop such a perfect human female face. But I guess thats what fans want right? Something sexy so it seems less weird to justify?

Meh, I want albino, bald velociraptor.

Albino and bald because no one had hair on a near skin tight suit, the itching would be horrific and Velociraptor because her feet suggest avian descent.
I agree. One does not simply develop clawed hands and bird feet without an equally alien face. And you can romance Garrus right? Why would having a weird lookin' female be so bad?

For what it's worth, her feet really, really creep me out. Not even Oni could save those things.

OT: I very much like the idea of an elegant, gypsy velociraptor. There's probably something mystifying about slit-shaped pupils and glowing purple irises. And in lieu of hair, colorful plumage.

Well, it's already been established that she's got a vaguely human-like face. We're just working with what we've been given. The picture I linked seemed suitably alien, but plenty humanoid enough to be attractive.

And, honestly, what's wrong with making her appealing?

I asked myself that when people were wanting her to be ugly or at least having some unappealing characteristics. But it makes more sense to do that or she ends up just being another pretty face and not justifying having the mask for so goddamn long.

Also, can I get some kind of badge for most derailed thread?

Wow, didn't take long for the haters to come out of the wetwork. So, according to this thread, if the fans of something are annoying it's ok to hope that thing turns out bad, even when it's just a vocal minority?....good to know, now I can say this openly because I know that it's ok now, I hope that Half Life 3 will be awful.

I don't think you quite understand what chekhovs gun is. Chekhovs gun is when a detail from earlier in the story that at the time was so insignificant that it was barely noticable turns out to be extremely important later in the story.
Actually it's quite the opposite.

It's where a seemingly insignificant detail is given/highlighted as a form of foreshadowing and it's relevance becomes clearer as the story progresses.

Chekhov tended to avoid the whole mention-something-in-opening-scene-which-is-relevant-in-last-10-seconds as far as I'm aware.

Regardless, this should never have been brought up for discussion by Bioware. I don't really mind either way at the moment but on principal I think it's stupid to remove the mask.

If it's removed the face should be revolting.

MYSTIQUE INTACT.
Its like... Inception. A mask... WITHIN A MASK

OT: Oh could you imagine the fan rage if tali got killed, though? That amount of hate might even make EA flinch.

I also heard that some people find Gordon Freeman sexy.

So in HL3, Freeman should be re-rendered as an ugly old man with huge warts on his face.
Well, considering the groundbreaking logic on this page, I guess we have no choice, WARTS IT IS!

Yeah, something like that. Albino makes sense, since their skin isn't ever exposed to light, and if they've been sealed in suits for their whole lives, they probably no longer have hair. And of course, her foot shape is Avian in nature.

Honestly, I don't care if they show her face or not. Isn't her whole romance arc about getting to see past her exterior, making appearances irrelevant to shepard?

Anyway, considering his total lack of a reaction when he took her mask off, I don't think she's got a predator mouth, or something like that. She probably looks a bit bizzare, but not appalling, or gorgeous.

There are a lot of missing things. What do female Drell, or Salarians, or Batarians or Vorcha look like? What do female Turians look like in game? It's unnecessary to show what Quarians look like under their masks because the Mass Effect universe doesn't end with ME3, rather Shepard's story ends in ME3.

I'm willing to bet that she looks incredibly ugly.

Oh, and she's probably a man secretly too.

/folds arms and waits for impending assault.

I would support this ugly Freeman whole heartedly.

Council doesn't believe you in ME1? Ok, racist assholes. Council still doesn't believe you in ME2 even after beating Saren and/or installing the human council? Bullshit. Basically everyone that wasn't on the Normandy or isn't Martin Sheen doesn't believe you about the Reapers even after killing one and having real fucking evidence about it? Fuck it.
´

If you understood basic politics or government managment you could see why they chose to deny it.

If you feel like it:

TL;DW? (Too long, didn't watch?)

First point, compare a Geth Dropship or Mothership with Sovereign. They do look similar, don't they? Not only that, but during an intense spacefight we don't really notice details.
Not only that, but it is stated that Sovereign exploded in a lot of parts, most of them being taken by the keepers in some sort of cleaning process.

And those are just the physical arguments. The Council doesn't want to admit that it was a Reaper leading the Army because:
a)they have np hard evidence of what happend. Vigil powered down after spending the last energy of the base activating the conduit. The message on the first colony attacked overloaded.
b)The only Reaper present in the attack was destroyed and no one was exactly worried about taking pics, when he was destroying entire fleets. After some (little) time passed, they didn't even had the pieces of Sovereign thanks to the keepers, and they have no knowledge about Reaper technology. It could be easily argued that the Geth just created a Dreadnought.
c)They didn't want to incite fear on people. After 1 or 2 months, and given the circunstances above, they had no recording of the attack, no evidence of the Dreadnought's origins. They had no reason to believe that the Reapers existed. Considering this scenario, and if you were a Councilor, what would you make official: That the Geth, that they suppressed and fought after the Battle, are now beaten and there's not a remote chance of another attack, or that mechanical monsters old and advanced as fuck were coming to get them?

If I was on their position, I can't say I would do things differently.

P.S: The turian councilor is still a dick, though.

I like to pretend that Quarians are eastern european people born with finger defects and glowing eyes caused by a genetic deformity passed on through descendants of Chernobyl victims. They need to wear the suits to prevent intense radiation that emits from their skin to infect everyone in the vicinity. Quarian is ancient Slavic language for "afflicted one".
