ME3's MP is fucking atrocious.

I play it every now and then, mostly just to try all the characters they released. The characters was the main driving force for me, and now that I have em all I more or less stopped.

As far as weapons go, they seriusly need some balance. Ever since I got the Reegar I see no point in using anything else.
I mean, a weapon that can melt an atlas in 2-3 clips (or 5-10 sec if you will) on just about any character on gold/plat is just stupid...
Some weapons are just too weak to ever be an option at all no matter what.

I actually quite liked the multiplayer from the standpoint of play. The random nature of upgrades only truly irritates me because the entire premise (in my mind) of trying to encourage me to pay for packs is to shortcut through the nonsense process of acquiring the desired part.

I've enjoyed my time with the multiplayer, that being said my gold membership expires next month and as I'd only be buying another 12 months for the ME multiplayer I will be saying goodbye to it in the next few weeks.

Unlike other multiplayers I haven?t received any abuse, been called a noob or anything else for that matter. I will miss it, but I can?t afford gold (unless they have a two months for £2 deal again!)

ME3 Multiplayer RNG is a genius system! You may hate it BUT you keep coming back for more! That's the nature of it. That is why all the Multiplayer DLC's are free because people BUY the packs for the chance to get something they want (essentially it's like gambling).

Once you get a pack that has an Ultra-Rare that you really really want...You scream out in joy! You basically wont the jackpot. Everyone is bound to get dud packs but you will eventually get what you want.

e.g. once you max out the customisation options for any non-common character THEN YOU CAN'T GET THAT CHARACTER AGAIN.

Once you get any gun to lvl X...YOU CAN'T GET THAT GUN AGAIN.

Basically by unlocking things you don't want you are setting yourself up for something you do want.

...Unless it's an Ultra-Rare of course. You will likely max everything else before maxing ONE Ultra-Rare gun. I've got over 300 hours in ME3 Multiplayer and my highest lvl ultra-rare gun is tied between Black Widow and Javelin (LOVE the Javelin!) both at lvl VI.

I'm currently getting Gears and Weapon Mods I don't have and missing 2 characters (Asari Valkyrie and Awakened Collector). I will keep playing until I get a Javelin X...then I will one-shot an Atlas and it will be glorious.

As much as people are saying they enjoy it or hate it, the multiplayer is very obviously crow-barred in. But I guess this is how many multiplayer franchises start in the first place :S

Also I think a more accurate term is "co-op" because you're not exactly pulling WoW-style raids here with huge numbers and you're only fighting wave after wave of AI. With the rise of countless "online" games someone really needs to differentiate between PvP, co-op and PvP+co-op.

The system can be agravating at first, but it has led to a fantastic amount of free DLC.

Since when did you have to pay to play the multiplayer? I never have, no one I know ever had to, it's been totally free, even the DLC for the multiplayer has been free to purchase.
If an Xbox has two XBL accounts attached to it, only one gets an online pass. Meaning in a house with two or more people using the same Xbox, you have to buy a new pass at $10 each for every account that plays the game.

Which is nice.

It's still not as bad as PC, where if two accounts are on one machine, you have to buy two CD keys at full price, even if you've got the retail DVD. That sadly is not so much an EA thing as an everyone thing.

Funnily enough, there aren't many EA multiplayer games in my house.

I really, really loved ME3's multiplayer- in fact I'll go so far as to say that it's probably my favourite multiplayer of all time.
1. It adds depth to the single-player game. Instead of thinking Shepard is doing all this fighting alone, it shows that the whole galaxy is fighting.
2. The randomised equipment makes me want to keep playing to unlock everything. True, it does treat me well so this may contribute, but I've got loads of equipment and characters and find it fun to play with different combinations etc.
3. It uses the same gameplay as ME3- which I find is one my my favourite games to play for the gameplay. It's so fun to use as it is so smooth and works so well, compared to games that don't work well for me.
4. Free DLC? Thank you EA.
There are more reasons, but I'm lazy for typing.

Why don't you just have both PC accounts log into the same origin account?

OT: I thought I would hate it but have ended up playing it whenever I'm looking for an easy, mindless game to play.
It's my Dynasty Warriors of the PC.

That only applies if you get it used, in which case paying the extra ten dollars is often still cheaper than buying it new.

So.

Yeah.

I've been playing it since it came out, it was ALWAYS free, I didn't have to pay a single cent more than I spent buying the game, and neither did any of my friends.
Does he have the xbox version by any chance? Because if so that's an xbox thing, you can't do ANY multiplayer shit without paying. Alternatively, is it a used game? Because that's pretty par for the course to encourage people to buy new, so they aren't hit with an unexpected charge.
We both have separate 360's, so seeing how it was a gift for him he got to activate the pass on his console. It's for this exact reason why I'm very much against the used game bullshit that EA tries to pull.

Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, he hadn't gotten his own Xbox yet. So it was linked to the account. Yeah, even lamer.

I hated the random unlock thing too, but I think you're being too harsh on it. I personally enjoyed the multiplayer quite a bit from what I played of it, and being able to play as different races (despite the annoying random unlock process) was great.

But to each his own.

I did play the MP quite a bit and it't one of the redeeming features in ME3. It was fun to play with friends and fun to play as different races. However I found that it did get stale the more you played it and I eventually stop playing it.

I just found that the random loot is just a sick way to get people to spend money in micro transactions. It's like a slot machine and you never know if a good item will come up in the next unlock will come up. The more you don't get anything the more likely you'll want to get an other chance to try again. But to cut the time to try again you spend money. Before you know it you spent $100 trying to get a pointless item. Not the case for everyone but the slot machine system can be quite addictive to some people.

I'd say it looks pretty neat, even with the random stuff, except for the fact its fucking multiplayer. Give me the same thing with two AI companions (which I know you can do, because its already in the same game) and I'd greatly enjoy busting heads as different races and classes in a sandbox. Instead I get multiplayer for a console that hasn't been hooked up to the internet for more than 20 minutes in the last three years in a game franchise where that wasn't supposed to hurt me, all as far as I can tell for the sole purpose of EA being able to fuck me over by adding an online pass.

I had similar problems at first too, there is a method to maximise the efficiency of packs you buy. If you are going to put in that number of hours here's what I'd recommend you do.

1. Sign up here. http://social.bioware.com/n7hq/ This site allows you to see what you have/don't have and groups weapons/characters based on rarity. The packs you buy should be determined by how complete your collection is. Buying premium spectre packs too early is just a waste of credits and is perhaps why you are frustrated.

2. Buy veteran packs until you have maxed out (level 10) your common and uncommon weapons and characters.

3. Now only rare and ultra rare remain buy 'premium spectre packs'. These will give you at least 2 rares.

I welcome the same weapon card, this makes you arsenal better. Plus, you won't get current weapon cards once a gun is maxed at level 10.

If you have been doing all these things anyway, sorry you aren't enjoying it.
I can't get it to link the accounts for some reason. Suggestions?

I had a blast with the ME3 MP back when I played it a lot for a 2-3 month stretch. The randomized loot is pretty brutal and I also didn't like how it is tied in to the SP. Before the EC DLC was released, you HAD to put in your time in the MP in order to get the best possible ending to the trilogy (and by best, I mean highest EMS). That was bullshit, in my opinion.

Hi Jacco, sorry I wouldn't know what the issue is.

The starting weapons are all common (Avenger, Predator, Katana, Shuriken and Mantis).

The following are all uncommon:

Assault rifles - Vindicator, Mattock, Phaeston
Pistol - Phalanx
Shotguns - Scimitar, Eviserator
SMG - Tempest, Locust
Sniper rifles - Viper, Raptor, Incisor

Max them out with veteran packs then move on to premium spectre packs.

Just in case, the starting humans are all common cards and the following are uncommon:
Drell adept, salarian engineer, quarian infiltrator, turian sentinel, turian soldier and asari vanguard

Hope this is helpful!!!

I enjoyed the game but refused to waste time on an entirely random roll based gear/character progression.
