I'm getting this day one. I played MW4 and the tabletop before that. I'll play this.

Uziel, Bushwhacker, Sunder, Mad Cat, Thor are all designs that dont show up until around 3050 or later.

in 3015 your gonna get things like the Cyclops, Atlas, Warhammer, Archer (hopefully), Battlemaster, Jenner, etc. A lot of the original mechs, with less powerful loadouts than in the past.

Wasn't the mad cat actually available but considered rare early on, it was the mad cat mkII that didn't show up until the later time line.

[More Fun To Compute]

I found my original Battletech manual out after this was announced the other week. While a lot of Mechs like the Atlas and Cyclops technically exist they were not in the "original" list of common Mechs in service. This ties in with what they are saying about how they want only one Atlas in the single player game and it is piloted by the enemy commander.

Just for reference, these are the four heaviest "common" Mechs that are listed in the manual.

ARC-2R Archer - 70 Tons - Main Weapons 2x LRM 20

WHM-6R Warhammer - 70 Tons - Main Weapons 2x PPC + SRM 6

MAD-3R Marauder - 75 Tons - Main Weapons 2x PPC + Auto Cannon

BLG-1G BattleMaster - 85 Tons - Main Weapons PPC + Lots of smaller weapons + heavy armour

I kinda hope they still have em for online play, though. At least the Inner Sphere got their Warhammer back in all its awesome glory!

I'm totally expecting the Clans to appear either in the game (the storyline could be planned to extend to the clan invasion, since that could make for a really cool endgame fight with your inferior IS tech vs superior Clan tech) or in the inevitable Expansion Pack.

Also, in honor of the new game's announcement, Mechwarrior 4 and ALL of its expansion packs (That means the IS and Clan packs, Black Knight and Mercs) will be released FREE for anyone and everyone. This bodes well.

I've heard of that and am still impatiently awaiting the free ones.

They need to include at least 30 mechs in order for it to feel like they put some work into it.

It'll be nice to see a Tomahawk do something other than gratuitously exploding to make Valkyries look cooler.

Just a pity they didn't license the Monster as well way back, that would have been fun.
