I'm really glad to see 'gangbusters' making a comeback. I thought it was just me that said it. Awesome.

OT: I remember when games relied heavily on word of mouth. 'Hey I got [insert Genesis/SNES game here] and it's totally radical! You should get it!'

Most of the reviews have said this:

The Single Player is outstanding. The Multiplayer is not.

The style of game that MoH and CoD are do not go hand in hand with good multiplayer. Want a good multiplayer? Well, looks like you're going to have a crappy single player. Want a good single player? Better take a lot of content away from multiplayer!

Reviews are useless.
Really? The reviews I read were the other way around.

I rented it today just to see how it is. I'll probably play it more for the multiplayer because DICE knows how to do multiplayer very well!

I hate 3 hour classes...

For the love of all that is good, can we please have no more stories concerning "industry analysts" clogging up the news reel?

85 is a minimum now? Wow, that's pretty fucked up. Plenty of games around have grabbed a decent 7.5+ and are quite well known. Plenty of those had between an 8 and an 8.5. How very menial, and it's kinda making the reviews worthless.

When the only games that ever score below 70% are absolute piles of garbage with no redeeming qualities the site only reviewed as a joke specifically so they could ridicule it and have a laugh, every single point has to count. In this environment, an overall score under 85% is a rather clear indication that the game is probably not particularly good. Games that aren't good don't need sequels. If it contained ideas that showed promise, take those and make a completely new game instead. I'm never going to feel sad that a mediocre series doesn't continue.

All War games are just trying to copy eachother anyways so why bother? Make something original please. And ya 85 is not a bad score but now it is? psssh! I'd be happy aking a game that people liked not one reviewers like- cept yahtzee. He's important.

The problem is that reviewers never allow a game to stand on its own merits. FPS games will always bring MW2 and Halo comparisons. Action games are always either a God of War or Devil May Cry clone. Realistic racers are compred to Gran Turismo, and unrealistic racers are ALWAYS compred to Mario Kart.

Word-of-mouth and unprofessional reviews tend to be more reliable, because they play to have fun and enjoy the game rather than get a paycheck from the company that made the game.

Every game I've ever seen get a 10 was a sequel, and it's usually the sequel to the game that's used as the standard.

ok, got off topic there...

OT: Even if MoH gets a 10, people are still addicted to CoD, so to many will be buying Black Ops. It may help, but CoD has proven my point that word-of-mouth is a bigger factor than reviews.

i really dont get where people get all of their criticism for or against most fps's around. i liked mewtwo, battlefield and loved medal of honor for the ps1. Most first person shooters are mostly the same with a few minor differences, but all of them are pretty fun. as far as multiplayer goes i get bored in any of them. I love co-op play and cant wait till they make a new co-op mode for any fps on par with say swat 4

The game needs me to make me want to buy it. I can't just be advertised to, I can't read up on all the hype and the taliban name change and such, I gotta see something in the game itself that makes me want to buy it. So far, I really do want to buy it. Assassin's Creed didn't do well for it's scores yet people saw you free-roaming, assassinating people, blending into the crowd and parkouring your way up buildings, and people wanted that. With the latest Prince of Persia game, I didn't really see anything that made me say "I gotta try this...", I put it on the back burner, and eventually I'll play it, but I didn't need to buy it, and I sure didn't need to get my hands on it ASAP. I think EA's gonna do good with this game, while it is in the same realm as Modern Warfare 2, and there will be countless comparisons, I think there is something about it that I can't quite put my finger on that will draw us in. I think it might be the attention to detail and the passion they're putting into it. Story mode looks insane, and multiplayer looks like fun =]

I may still pick the Tier 1 Edition on Friday just because the PS3 version comes with a copy of Medal of Honor Frontline HD. It'll be good see how much the series has come in terms of gameplay and cinematics. Frontline is still one of the best FPS games on the PS2.

Review scores are pointless if a game is good just say you liked it, also how can a game like MW2 get 90 somethin but a game that has a good story, dialog and gameplay get 70 or 80.

IGN are just terrible when it come to reviews thats why i like the people on this website, they get reviews right.

You can't spell IGN without ignorance.

Whatever happened to Republic Commando?
Oh that was actually interesting and fun so it was ignored by the general public.

I like how today, coincidentally on the day of MoH's release, there was a huge banner ad for Black Ops on the youtube homepage. Seems a little more than coincidental to me.

I'd say more importantly is the bad word of mouth spreading. I've not heard one positive word for the game, and everyone I've spoken to pretty much called it shit. I agreed when I played it in beta and I agree now.

It won't match Black Ops thats for sure.

Wait Medal of Honor is coming out today? Wow talk about lack of care..

Just curious as to why (in timeline perspective) people are dissing MoH as a CoD clone when MoH:AA was actually released prior to the original CoD. Perhaps people are just unaware of facts...
No, I don't think MoH has a chance in hell of regaining what it had with AA, but to say that getting a B- rating kills the franchise, just not true. I don't think the "industry experts" have faith in their games anymore.

It's not being dismissed a COD clone. It'e being dismissed as a bad generic multiplayer shooter. Which is what all these games are. Some are just not as bad.
