[Thank God] Mega Man Online sadly won't be [yet another goddamn] a 3D World of Warcraft style game [clone] starring Mega Man, and will be a 2D side-scrolling action-RPG similar to games like Maple Story [and Mega Man] instead.
The Escapist Magazine editors are getting lazy, they missed this sentence.

Hmm...I don't know how to feel about this, it's just an odd IP to turn into an MMO so I guess I'll have to wait and see more before I can nerdgasm like the mega man fan I am. I am kind of disappointed about the 2d perspective though...cmon I would love it if they have mega man legends gameplay and the MMX setting. Now THAT would be made of win. The 3d environments, upgrade system, and some of the combat from legends fused with MMX's universe would kick major ass.

Hmm...if this has us make our own characters, then I might go crazy from the possibilities. Honestly, I'd be surprised if Wily does make an appearance, since, well, it's already been said above me. Then again, the title IS Mega Man Universe, so anything can happen. This also makes me wonder how the armor upgrades (if any) and such will work.

Okay, first off, that's not Megaman, that's X, they are two completely seperate characters that only happen to resemble each other due to having both been constructed by Dr. Light.

Secondly, if this is indeed a Megaman X MMO, the only member of the original Megaman cast that has a chance of appearing is Dr. Light, as a hologram, as the main cast of the original series is long dead by the time of Megaman X.

Thirdly, that 'evil robot looking construction' in the backround is Sigma, who has nothing to do with Dr. Wily, as a matter of fact, it's Zero, the red fellow there, that was built by Dr. Wily. So would you like your helmet with, or without salt, good sir?

I apologize for the attitude, but I'm sure that if you'd heard enough people speak about two seperate game series as though they were the very same game, you'd get pretty sick and tired of being helpful and unsarcastic too. But I do give you credit for mentioning the annoying little hard hat bastards, which do still exist in the X series... Little armoured turds, I hate them all! D:<

OT: I'm interested, but I doubt that I'll get it, anyways, as I hold no interest in MMO's, regardless of how much I love the franchise they come from.

I kind of think that a 2-D MMMMO (Mega Man MMO) is the best option becuase, well, 3D Mega Man sucks (what, don't tell me you LIKED Mega Man Legends/64) quite hard. Not sure how a Mega Man MMO would work, maybe for a final final big bad you have to get 40 people and fight all of Dr. Wily's robots at the same time and a 27-form Wily Machine.

I enjoyed Mega Man Legends, and Command X mission (but that was turn base so...) but I did enjoy the remake of Mega man on the psp with the level editor.

I think this could be good. The X series lends itself much more to the MMO category. Most likely the players being Maverick Hunters. Probably starting out as in initiate and eventually working your way up to being an S class hunter like Zero and X eventually become. Intriguing concept but of course its all in the execution. Good luck with this one Capcom.

I've waited many years for this, and Megaman X is finally making a comeback!
I kiss the feet of whoever thought to bring him back... THANK THE LORD IN HEAVEN!!!

Oddly enough, I personally think the only part of the Megaman franchise that could work well as an MMORPG would be the Battle Network series. It's much more open in those GBA/DS games than the rest of the franchise, and the very idea of characters and NetNavis is definitely quite transferrable easily to an MMO setting. Who knows, maybe I'll be proven wrong, but I just think the Battle Network series would work better in this case.

Prove me wrong, Capcom. Prove me wrong...

NO NO NO NOOOOOO Why god why????

NOT EVERY SERIES NEEDS TO BE AN MMO!!!

What is with this new fad? I'm starting to get tired of it. The mmo market is already filled with too many mmorpgs, we don't need more!

I know it wont happen, but I have glorius fantasies of 10 people on screeen fighting contra hard style bullet hell sequences and 16 stage boss fights.

And yeah as people have pointed out before me, it's Sigma.
Damn I can't find that scene from Laurel and Hardy where he's eating the hat!

If it genuinely is an MMORPG, then the only logical reason to do this would be to institute either a subscription fee, or offer bribe pay-items (a far more common model in the Asian MMO market).

Because otherwise, the premise of this game stinks.
Why take an action game and boil it down to grinding out a database?
The only logical answer is: Consistent money.

If it has one it's gonna be a bad game. If it doesn't it's gonna be a terrible game. Sorry.

...Excuse me? This is probably one of the last series that I'd expect to get an MMO.

I am unsure what to say about this particular development. I like Megaman, but I am unsure if a MMORPG would really do it justice. I would be interested to see what they have planned for it, game mechanic wise. Though I guess no one will know for sure until they update us. I find myself confused with this, I don't know how I feel.
I totally agree.
I'm a huge Mega Man fan, and hearing about this just makes me excited, yet I can't get a grasp on how it would work.
So, until I see it, I can't judge it. Still excited, though.

Yeah I like the idea that something new from Megaman is coming out, but I can't deny the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I'm unsure if this is the right step for Megaman, but I will likely wait for it all the same, lol. I do hope they release some information on this very soon, if anything for information I can use to assuage my feeling of nervousness.
