I would argue that they probably made him like that in order for him to fit the Street Fighter/Tekken universe, but then I saw Pac-Man and those two cats. So this is more or less a joke.

You should be aware that you're wrong about Inafune having the rights to the character. If he did have the right Capcom wouldn't have been able to have him in there, under any name or likeness. They can do shit and they're literally shitting on the character that put Capcom on the console market.

This guy's right. The only time I've heard about a character belonging specifically to the person who created was Strider Hiryu; that's why Strider wasn't in the first MvC3 ("first MvC3"... goddamn...). While the Strider games were indeed made by Capcom, the person who created the Strider series (Moto Kikaku, I think the name is) is a completely separate entity.

So when he rolled, Strider went with him.

To be fair, the majority of complaints about DmC are that it's being made by a mediocre developer who has no idea what made the other games good.

And it even goes further than that. I won't bore anyone with specifics, but know that the design choices for DmC kinda fucked everything else in the series sideways with no type of lubricant whatsoever.

Not really, they're just having a laugh. I for one find it funny. The beer gut bit is a nice touch, due to the fact that we have never played as that Megaman, so it makes sense that he wouldn't be in shape.

Honestly, if they wanted to destroy a beloved childhood character by turning them into a bloated joke and STILL retain some likability, they should have hired the Tron Guy.
