After reading the final article of "Confessions of a Gamestop employee" and had a good laugh reading about the stupid kid who left his actual address when trying to steal a game, and soccer mom spiking a new version of Modern Warfare, im curious to know if anybody else has had conflicts with stupid customers as well, because who doesn't like laughing at people who act like idiots, right?

Oh and heres the first article of the series. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_273/8145-Confessions-of-a-GameStop-Employee-Part-One

I have never been that costumer, but I did see one guy at Target try to steal a huge box of this dungeons and dragons knock off by putting it under his coat. Despite it being bigger than his entire upper body, he still tried to proclaim his innocence.

Really though I hate it when anyone acts that way, especially when its to someone like a cashier because they have a bad enough job already, why would you try to make it work.

I've had annoying kids smugly tell me that a game isn't out yet...when I was looking at the back of the pre-release case at an obvious display stand to decide whether I should pre-order it or not...

Apparently, some thirteen year olds think acting like a jackass to other customers will impress the people who work there and beats a resume or a job interview, because, no more than a few minutes later, that same kid was asking if he could work at the game store. Yeah, that's really going to happen, kid. Go back to school.

I'm so glad I don't have to work in retail. I feel so bad when I see the people employees have to put up with sometimes.

I had the same woman, over the course of 3 consecutive days, come in and ask me (not other members of staff, me 3 times) to get her a (non-existent) Mario game on PS3.

Apparently she didn't listen the first two times when I patiently explained that Mario would only ever appear on Nintendo consoles, and also pointed out which consoles were Nintendo's.

The one I hated when I was a bank teller was customers would ask if the little machine in front of me (that slide your ATM card and input your pin number which is primarily used for IDing customers) is an ATM machine. I usually faked a chuckle and said no, but in the back of my mind, I am like, if that is an ATM machine, why the fuck would I need to standing here?

I've worked at McDonald's for a couple of years, so I've had my fair share of stupid and annoying customers. I'll share a story that happened just last week.

Some lady came through the drive-thru earlier in the day, but then she called in later complaining that she was missing some McNuggets. The floor manager took the call and acted really nice and understanding about it all. After she hung up, she told the rest of us what was going on AND mentioned that the lady over the phone had been screaming and cursing at her the whole time. Yep.

So the lady comes in about fifteen minutes later to get her food replaced or whatever. (I was busy with something else at this point, so I don't know if she got just the nuggets or her whole order replaced. Doesn't matter, I guess.) Anyway, my manager dealt with her and was nice about the whole thing. I don't believe the customer was being nasty this time, despite the way she acted earlier.

The lady leaves after a bit and my manager disappears for a while to do whatever. When she comes back up front, she tells us she got another call from the customer. Apparently, all the lady said was "You're a fucking *****" before hanging up. I don't understand this at all. My manager was being understanding, kind, and helpful, so why call her and to tell her that? Ugh.

Man, I envy the people who can do that whole "kill them with kindness" thing so easily. If a customer pisses me off, I just leave and let somebody else handle them because I can't keep my anger in check so easily. :p

Oh, and I've also had a customer pretty much insist I was lying to her about tea, too. She wanted half-sweet, half-unsweet. I make it, she drinks it and insists that it was all sweet. I hate people.

I worked at McDonald's for a little over a year. Once I had a customer in the drive thru who gave me a ten dollar bill for a four dollar order, then drove off before I could give him his change. He came back an hour later and accused me of trying to steal his money.

When I worked at Blockbuster 11 years ago a woman brought back a DVD that was snapped in half. It was snapped in half because she kept jamming the thing in her VCR, trying to get it to play.

I worked as a beer and wine stooge in a supermarket during Uni. The most common ocurrence of customer stupidity was an inability to pronounce wine varieties. Hot tips: The 'T' in Merlot, Pinot and Cabernet is silent. Pinot Gris is not pronounced "peanut grease", Sauvignon Blanc is not pronounced Sow-vig-nawn-Blanck. I mean I can be a bit harsh, they're not exactly easy words but usually I would extend my understanding to someone not knowing how to pronounce Gewurztraminer or Viognier, not Chardonnay, (the 'ch' is pronounced like 'sh'.)

Also, customers holding up a bottle of wine and asking me if it was red or not. I gave them the tip of looking at it to see if it is red.

To even out my pricklinss at customers I do some good deeds too. I noticed a bottle of wine had been mislabeled "$12 per dozen" instead of "$12 per bottle" and pointed this out to a customer saying that if they took twelve bottles up to the checkout we were legally obligated to sell them a dozen for twelve bucks. This happened twice. The guy who did the signs isn't allowed to do them any more.

After reading other people's posts I see that we can also talk about fast food places.

I work at Subway so I can post!

Anyone who frequently goes to Subway knows that only a few footlongs are around $5. When they ask us which ones are $5, we easily point to the panel above us which shows them.

And yet all those retards STILL sometimes give us a hard time when we charge them and they start complaining about how the footlongs are supposed to be $5 even after we clearly point out the sign.

Seriously, after me and my coworkers have dealt with these morons almost every day we work, I came to a conclusion...

That's so stupid it's automatically awesome; I approve.

Let's see, working at Gamestop, I've had many experiences along the line of what Ben talked about...

Well, this one doesn't have a specific instance, but I can't tell you how many people angrily tell us they don't want to warranty their games, then return four days later with a broken disc and somehow act surprised when we won't replace them. Hmmm...

Gimme time, I'll think of more :p

Same here. I enjoy the customers who come in and say, "Well at the other Subway they are!" Or they lie and say, "Well, the woman who took my order the other day only charged me five dollars for it!"

People will try to get away with anything.

Oh, and the people who pass three signs that say we don't accept hundred dollar bills, and get in a hissy-fit when I can't accept them.

If you see a big door covered in large red "Emergency fire exit, alarm will sound when opened" it's probably a good idea to not walk through it.

When I worked at Mcdicks, for a long time our icecream had a blue swirl in it. It was grease. If you were nice customer, or at least a generic one, then I would warn you not to get teh icecream. If you were annoying or a douche, well, I may even have recommended our delicious new blue swirl flavour.

Probably the worst time when I worked there was when this woman ordered a big family meal(like 100$ worth) We obviously couldn;t prepare it in under 2 minutes, as is our policy, but unfortunately we assumed this lady had patience and common sense. So about five minutes later(I know, long time amiright?) we had the order assembled and ready to go. She took it, left for about 20 minutes, then came bargin back in saying how it got cold on her way home, all because we took so long in preparing it.
We gave her a cheesburger with a patty that had been on the floor as part of the replacement order.

No, I haven't had a "stupid customer" yet. However, I have often had an emplyee with a superiority complex who seems to think he's better then all the customers who come through the store.
