I'm not diagnosed with any mental health issues, but I do have SPS, a type of epilepsy where I can have a seizure while remaining conscious and without having motor issues. What triggers it, when its happening, and how it will mess with my head, nobody knows. *waggles fingers mysteriously*

I am happy and mostly well adjusted.

I work with a LOT of people with special needs for my job, so I have to always resist the urge to self-diagnose.

Severe Anxiety Disorder, Depression, self-hatred syndrome, body image disorder and anorexia. I shit you not.

EDIT: none are self diagnosis btw.

What a wonderful thread!

Don't think I do. Unless you go around diagnosing yourself... but we all know how that ends up usually.

Manic Depression (Bi-Polar) [sub]- Note: This isn't a self diagnosis, I have been to see several doctors about this matter.[/sub]
OCD
Insomnia

The insomnia is a recent thing. I used to sleep fine, now my sleeping pattern is all over the place. My Bi-Polar is regulated by medication, although it doesn't do much to make my mood swings less extreme. As for OCD, I find it quite useful.
I was talking to a shrink about OCD, she said that its something almost everyone that has it doesn't like, they don't like having to always straighten up a picture, rearrange this and that etc, but they do it uncontrollably and hate it.

I have an extremely small case of Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive ADHD, meaning that I'm always hyper/wound up. But again, it's a small case. I always have a little bit of build up energy or hype all the time, usually displayed when I'm sitting in class. I often fidget my legs throughout every class, whenever I play videogames, I have to stand, if I'm doing something that requires me to stand and wait, I often walk in circles or pace so I am in some sort of constant motion, and the list just goes on with small things like that.

Perfectly Normal! :D

No wait, no probably not. I just don't take pills for anything.

I don't know, everything I'd say would be self diagnosed.

Course as an artist I don't classify some of them as disorders.

I'd call them advantages. ... in a sense.

I'm just not normal... but what is normal? I've always had an issue with my little brother taking pills for his ADD. No offense to anyone who seriously can't focus or concentrate for severe reasons, but saying a kid has ADD is like saying that kid ate too much sugar. It's usually an excuse for normal child like behavior (usually). As is a lot of Mental Disorders. More like a condition or a mindset.

But we'll call them disorders, I think that's easier for most to comprehend.

But unless your brain is wired strangely like Tourettes or the like then I don't really think they're disorders. And maybe severe depression, because that's a serious problem.

I'm depressed sometimes... I was always the quiet contemplative one, sitting there thinking about life and space aliens.

I haven't been diagnosed with a mental illness yet, although one of my classmates claims I'm bipolar. I don't think I am, as I've seen bipolar people before, and I'm not like them.

There's actually nothing wrong with me. :)
Yeah, except that you call yourself fuckwit.

As for me, no mental illness, used to be depressed, but worked through it.

You're probably fine, Bipolar is the new in vogue diagnosis for anyone with mood swings. It frustrates me to no end.

I suppose in a way, you could consider some disorders a function of one's mindset, but it's a mindset that is rather intent on being rather permanent, no matter how many "mood charts" you track or how many times your counselor tells you to put "mind over matter" or "don't worry, be happy" whatever other nonsense cliche sounds good to them that week.
You can try to change it all you want, but it's a heroic conscious effort to guard and control some aspects of behavior, and very easy to put all emotion on the table with but the flip of some mental switch the second you drop that guard. It's a mindset, sure, but it's a damn persistent one.

Especially when the person doing the "diagnosis" is my age, and doesn't really know what being bipolar is.

Thats for sure. Unfortunately it doesn't get that much better as the age and qualification of the person making the diagnosis increases. Trust me, I see it all the time.

Sometimes these people will get put on an atypical antipsychotic drug that does more harm than good.
